KCLR and KJEL drop aftermidnite with Granger smith.

I Earlier this week, my local country radio station dropped aftermidnite with Granger Smith, I'm not quite sure if their contract expired (I think it's the case).

However less than a hour ago I found out that KJEL just dropped aftermidnite with Granger Smith as well however they are still airing it. I'm not quite sure if they just made a deal but the program haven't had time to update their map of stations, are in contract negotiations or got a emergency deal done to keep the show on while working on a long term deal.

I'm not quite sure if KCLR will bring back aftermidnite with Granger Smith anytime soon (it's been at least a day since it happened) but as long KJEL figures out a way to keep aftermidnite with Granger Smith on but im not sure if they are going to keep the program on the air. I listen to KJEL overnights and I'll be pretty disappointed if they drop aftermidnite with Granger Smith but since they air fox news at the start of the hour they may have to keep aftermidnite on.

I'll post any updates if KCLR brings back aftermidnite with Granger Smith, if KJEL completely drops aftermidnite with Granger Smith, or I hear anything regarding a deal being made. I may also reach out to KCLR most specifically to see what actually happened.

A update KCLR hasn't brought aftermidnite back on the air (not too surprising) but just around 12am today KJEL just dropped aftermidnite which I was shocked by it. If alpha media didn't decide to fully fire everyone in some radio stations for AI we've wouldn't had this problem of losing syndicated radio programs on stations and losing our local radio staff including local news and sports. KJEL started out by losing the country top 40 then they lost the original gold with rowdy Yates and now aftermidnite.

Oh yes we would. Syndicated shows have been hurting for awhile. Before Loveline ended in 2016, Dr. Drew said on air that he had been doing the show for free for a year. Kid Kelly said on the Billboard Chart Beat podcast 8 years ago that he was considering ending his syndicated show Backtrax USA.

For avoidance of doubt, KCLR is not an Alpha Media station. It's part of the Zimmer Columbia-Jeff City cluster.
