KCNS, San Francisco, drops RTV

Very recently, KCNS ch. 38 in San Francisco has dropped Retro TV (RTV) from its 38.1 subchannel, in favor of Mundo Fox, a new Spanish language service of Fox Television. An inquiry to RTV, headquartered in Chattanooga TN, about the possibility of their finding a new affiliate in the Bay Area has so far gone unanswered. RTV has had difficulty keeping affiliates. It has slipped from about 90 markets to around 70 in the past year or two.

I have just heard back from RTV, about the situation with their San Francisco affiliate, KCNS, Ch. 38. It seems that RTV was not dropped by the station, but was moved, without notifying the public, to a different sub-channel, 38.5. Unfortunately, this sub-channel is not carried by Bay Area cable providers. Only those with access to the the over-the-air signal, via antenna will be able to watch RTV for the time being. Cable providers may, or may not decide to adjust to this situation by allocating one of their slots to KCNS sub-channel 38.5.

There most definitely is. Rescan.
