KCRG in trouble again?

Weekend sports anchor Shawn Terrell is leaving KCRG TV for WHO TV in Des Moines.

Word on the street indicates that Sports Director John Campbell isn't happy and feels they could have done more to keep Shawn on staff.

Apparently this isn't going to be the last departure for the news staff.

Long time GM John Phalen has lost 15 year employee Capt. Bobby Ratliff, 35 year Chief Meteorologist Denny Frary, and now Shawn Terrell.

Who's next?

Supersoul has heard it will be a major female personality who is upset with all of the cutbacks taking place.

Not that Shawn Terrell was bad, poor, or otherwise, but the loss of Shawn is not "trouble" for KCRG anymore than the departure of Kent Lee or Jason Rogers was before him. They were all quality talents, but also deep in the talent shadows of John and Scott. As for John, remember, this is the guy who was demoted to weekends back in the early 90s for a few years by an old GM. He made it through that, so this isn't going to send him over the edge. Perhaps he's thinking of spending weekdays on a golf course with Denny, but that would be his only reason for leaving, not simply the departure of Shawn Terrell. BTW, Shawn, I'm sure, will do great at WHO and why would any talented sports guy like Shawn ever pass up a good job to stay at KCRG in the sports 3-hole. In case you haven't noticed, John and Scott aren't the type to be looking for new jobs right now - so promotion isn't a likely option for the person in the 3-spot. It should be interesting to see if they seek a female for the position this time.

I'm not sure if you're refering to Liz with your other comment, but I'm not too worried there. Where is she going to go? To co-anchor the Fox Morning News with Eadie?

By the way, I wade through the silly radio comments on this board to find TV stuff, so you TV wannabees can read this, crap. ;)
