KCSM TV 60

I know that the full power signal is off the air one year ago. (CH. 60) I'm recieving a low power signal that is KCSM on Ch. 60. What is the power level and where is their transmitter located? I know that they lost their least to San Bruno Mountain so I'm not sure where are they transmitting from.

Interesting...they applied for Special Temporary Authority on channel 60 in April, and they just applied for an extension of the STA on 11/15/05. There's no easy way in the FCC's database system to get technical details on STAs, unfortunately...but there are the nice folks at ba.broadcast, where a check of recent threads finds mention that they're now broadcasting on 60 at very low power from the roof of the engineering building (building 19) at the College of San Mateo.

What this all boils down to is the lawyers representing KCSCM-TV screwed up and thought they could take the Analog signal off the air while only keeping the DTV on. WELL....they were never authorized to take Ch. 60 off the air. They were forced to return a signal to air on Ch. 60 by the FCC. The transmitter is at the College of San Mateo and the antenna is on the pole along with KCSM-FM.

I would hope that they are suing the pants off the lawyers that screwed up.

What I don't understand is why the FCC won't just let them keep the Analog signal off...I thought Ch. 60 was part of the to be auctioned frequencies anyway.

Do you have a source for that? It sounds very odd considering the push the FCC is making toward DT.

You are correct, 60 is part of the band to be auctioned.

It's actually a fairly watchable signal up in the Oakland hills.

Building 19, you say?
If this were in the Boston area, there might be something funny about that...
