KCTC?

The subject says it all, but to expand a little:

Has KCTC flipped to liberal talk with Air America Radio, as scheduled on Monday? (Or will it happen later today, as originally announced?)

If it's flipped, or if it did by the time you read this...give us out of market types an idea of how it sounds. Do they have any particularly interesting positioning? Do they run anything besides AAR?

It seemed as though they flipped on Sunday. I dont have the official time/date. So far they are doing the Air America thang with comedy bits thrown in during stop sets. They are positioning with "Sacramento's Left Channel". I'm not a fan of AA but it seems like things are moving along. Not a lot of station ID'ing going on for a new station. That may pick up. They will still be playing some weekend music shows and a garden show. I think some "Aging with Class" show as well on the weekends. Signal is good. Processing is ok (for talk). That's my take. Anyone else??

To the chagrin of some of their clients, they're still running
previously contracted spots, inappropriate to their "new" format.
Hearing rumblings that those advertisers are NOT happy since they
bought with the intent of reaching an older audience with
conservative leanings. Some complaint that those advertisers
are getting strong negative reaction from their existing customer
base.

This is a common mistake made by stations flipping formats. Had
they consulted each client prior to the change some might have
just changed their copy and stayed with them and others might
have quietly walked away. When this stuff happens the station
doing the flip commonly experiences a wave of small lawsuits
(usually settled, but only after some bad publicity) and some
bad-mouthing of the station within business associations.

A format flip badly handled by the sales department can set a
station back heavily in lost revenue, some of it persisting for
a long time.

A funeral home whose dignified spot is sandwiched between some
Franken comedy bits is generally not amused.

This is very common, as you note, with format changes.

In fact, it happened at the very first liberal talker in this recent run, Air America flagship WLIB/1190. It aired a number of spots at the beginning, that were meant for the station's previous format.

Does Entercom still own this station? They list it on their web site, but I thought I read somewhere that it had been sold.
