KCUV-FM 102.3 Now An OLDIES Outlet

Hi everyone:

Was listening earlier today and they are now known as Denver's new oldies station. So far their main source of programming is the Oldies Network, which I assume makes it a satellite fed oldies station.

If THAT is THE BEST they can do, then NRC may as well pack it in right now because KOOL 105 will KILL them in the ratings. Their only saving grace they will (probably) have will be the PURE oldies fans in the audience (which isn't saying much considering that much of it is rapidly becoming extinct).

Anyhow....Thoughts anyone?

Cheers for now & Happy Holidays :)

Christmas nite/7:15p... the web is still streaming "Colorado's Unique Voice"... just played CSN's "Shadow Captain", don't recognize the next cut, then "Devil With A Blue Dress" and a couple more mystery cuts, but tonight it's certainly not the Oldies Network, which is (I think) one of ABC's fairly recent formats... the safest songs from '55 to '69. It's a return to an old niche... many of the other oldies formats on the sats have moved more to '64-'75. I noticed the Oldies Network on 1510 a week or two ago as I scanned through. I'm waaay too far north to hear the FM... are the two stations simulcasting, or are they split?

And you heard this how? I note an area code 206 on the banner below your
signature...

As KKTY points out, KCUV-FM's stream is anything but. Right now G. Brown is hosting a recorded Ozark Mt Daredevil concert. Its anything but ABC's True Oldies feed.

My guess is that there was a technical problem that may have required a simulcast of 1510 for a brief period or that someone had switched the cables on the internet stream. I used to work at a station that streamed, and we would stream alternate programming when programming we couldn't stream was coming out over the air. There were a couple of times we switched the stream and the board-op forgot to switch it back.

I live in Denver. The phone number is (or at least WAS) a feedback number for MY PODCAST (You DO know what a podcast is by now, do you?).

Could've fooled MY FRIEND'S BOOMBOX as I distinctly heard the station ID itself as KCUV 102.3 Denver and it WAS running an oldies format on Christmas Day afternoon.

Cheers for now & HAPPY NEW YEAR!! :)<P ID="signature">______________

Whatever. I guess a Washington State phone number for a Denver
podcaster makes sense. ???

You didn't indicate that in your post. Which is why the question
was asked. Now we can reach a conclusion.

Eggnog.

It does if the Telecomm issuing it is in Washington State and it's the way those kinds of numbers are issued...
