kday changes ?

Oh Boy

Do I have a lot to say about this one.

1st 100.3 the beat already tried this when they transformed into v-100 and we all saw how that went,
They no longer exist. I see Kday heading in the same direction. We already have two Urban A/C stations in L.A. Dont need a third.

2nd All of these shows are syndicated, Which means they can be heard online.

3rd All but one of these syndicated shows will be live. Wendy Williams. The rest will be taped delayed Like Steve Harvey's
3/5 of these shows are in New York. Wendy Williams & Michael Baisden compete at the same time In New York.

4th I think a big reason why Kday is struggling is NO SUMMERJAM. We need it back!! KDAY is a hip hop station
It's just dumb to merge it with the Beat when its really not. T

no urban station in l.a but then there is no nfl team in l.a either. l.a will survive cant say the same for kday though.

I don't know urban, but I know cost cutting and bdub's right. This looks like a second half of the year cost cutting move due to less than expected revenues.

And don't forget, GM and part owner Roy Laughlin, has some distractions these days...the trades reported his "arrangement" with Tribune (Zell and Michaels) to be a "special consultant" and he's also got 10% ownership of the Rincon stations in Santa Barbara. For a guy who's used to playing on the BIG stage this job is all about positioning KDAY for a big sale (maybe Tribune) and to do that you need cash flow. He's got the signal upgraded...he's cut programming costs...he's got one less urban competitor...anyone following the dots here?

I love how Roy has convinced many people that the relatively minor move of 93.5 from the KNX tower in Torrance to Baldwin Hills is significant. It's still a class A. The station will have coverage virtually equvalent/identical to KJLH with the upgrade, but nothing at all like a Mt. Wilson signal. The 64 dbu signal goes from covering 3.45 million to 3.7 million... hardly major.
