KDAY/KDAI SIGNALS

Been seeing a LOT of our old pal Roy Laughlin recently braggingabout the "70% increase in signal". What's the real story: how muchimproved are the combined "syncrocast" signals?

I was surprised that I had no problem picking up the signal up in both Del Mar and Poway this past weekend.

Sure didn't help the ratings...neither did Steve Harvey...whoops...

Havey started on 5/30. The booked ended on 6/21. I'd wait one or two more trends to consider making that statement. I have heard KDAY in many businesses where Power or The Beat have previously been played. KDAY seems to be the hot station on the radios in Best Buy and Circuit City...

I thought you hated Styles and KDAY. You kept saying they didn't know what they were doing and they should sell and how stupid they were for paying $120 million... Now, you are defending them?

But you do need to give everything time and we need to see what happens over multiple books, not months.

The $120 million was/is stupid for those sticks. And they have had to bring in other investors, management to realize it.

The multiple formats that they had during the winter and spring books were insane (and I was happy to point that out at the time). They may be laughing at Roy Laughlin (going to Styles) at Clear Channel but at least he's stablized KDAY.

They'll never be a major factor in this market but I do expect them in the short term to edge past The Beat which is a total joke.

We don't deal with books anymore. Either you're up within a few trends or we're looking for your replacement. You better get that through your head. Look at how CBS radio treats its talent and formats to see how radio is run today.

Speaking of KKBT, anyone hear who Free's official replacement might be? Various news statements said Wendy Williams, but I never heard her on KKBT, so obviously RO is looking for someone. But they'll be pretty cheap about it, after the celeb disasters with Spinderella and Free. Mabye Theo might make a comeback? RO's best chance is to succeed in LA is not to follow their agenda slogan, but rather divert from it, but Liggins, Hughes, and Majors will never do that.
