Talk about a quick change.
After four months as FM 93.3 Quality Rock, KDBN Dallas / Fort Worth pulled the plug on its rock format, and went into stunt mode. The "music wheel" then began spinning, playing everything from oldies to classic country music. Amidst the stunting were announcements to listen at noon on September 4th, and clips from the station's past. Here's a 15½ minute long clip of what that sounded like: http://www.mediafire.com/?dbmkmydy2rj
The next day, the stunting came to an end at 12 noon, as advertised, and KDBN was reborn as CHR i93. Currently, they are playing "more than 93 hours of hits, commercial-free." Here's a clip of the launch of i93, whose first song played was The Black Eyed Peas' I've Got a Feeling: http://www.mediafire.com/?gtczuwu3wgz
Cumulus appears to have a thing for this "i" branding for their new CHR stations. The past few Cumulus format changes I've recorded (all of which have been posted here) were all flips from something else to an "i"-branded CHR format designed to go after the major CHR station in whatever market they're in. I assume this trend will continue.
