KDES freq swap?

It is about another 2 and a half years down the road. Gold Coast in Ventura opposed the CP grant to move 104.7 to Redlands by appealing it to the full commission. It is 100% certain the FCC will uphold the grant as all of Goldcoast's objections are bogus, but it will take them a couple of years before they even look at it.

Glenn Barnett still owns 98.5. The sale to RR, and the 104.7 sale to Lieberman were both approved, but not consumated. RR could pay Glenn the $7 million at any time and have both 98.5 and 104.7, but would rather first get the $10 million from Lieberman.

While a $3 million profit is nothing to laugh at...I would expect an Inland Empire signal to go for a lot more than $10 million...

Right George, since Don McCoy (Magic Broadcasting) sold his 96.1 to Liberman for $25 million. The new 104.7 Redlands will share the same transmitter site as 96.1; both class A's with effectively the same coverage. Now, since Liberman has backed out of the purchase of 104.7 and Gold Coast (with Roy Laughlin) is the new buyer the price has been reduced to $7 milllion ! The switch of KDES to 98.5 should take place mid november.

So with the price drop to 7 mil, whats the point in selling the station if your purchasing another for the same price?

One less station to compete with.

And a free AM... which is probably overpriced for an AM in the desert cities.
