KDFC

So with KMAX to possibly Country as the Wolf, and 104.9 back as Channel 104.9, do you think KDFC will fill in the void for CHR-Pop? I think so. It should change its call letters to like KBYQ or KQZQ (bringing back old SF call letters) and becoming Q 102 SF's Hit Music Station! I think this might work, Entercom is making great changes.

Nurse Jeff and I've heard it's going to become KYA-FM and simulcast with some station out of Firebaugh. We'll keep our ears to ground and provide more details should they become available!

"do you think KDFC will fill in the void for CHR-Pop?"

What void? With Star, Alice, Wild, and KMEL - local radio stations have flanked the market for CHR, though it may not be exactly the playlist you're longing for. If Entercom flips KDFC, they will be making the same mistake CBS made by flipping KFRC - trading an exclusive format with a decent sized listener base but a supposedly undesirable age demographic for a listener base that already has a number of stations to choose from. MOViN is just another variation on the urban-pop format, and it's not exciting anybody, because their playlist is mostly just re-arranged parts of Wild-KissFM-KBLX,and KMEL. I don't think a slight variation on Star would attract many listeners, either.

"Oh god no!!!!! Somebody save KDFC, please!!!!"

Amen to that.

KDFC and Scott Mahalick

Bill Leuth has been replaced by Scott Mahalick as PD of KMAX, let's just hope Scott doesn't take over as PD for KDFC as I can tell you one thing! I knew Scott, and while he is a big Country Music Fan, HE DEFINATELY HATES CLASSICAL! I know it. I worked for him in Modesto about 14 years ago. But don't get me wrong. He is a programming genius. He was considered the King Midas of Radio. Everything he touched turned into gold. 2 formats he specialized was Country AND Rock. Will 102.1 turn into "ROCK 102.1"? Let's hope not.
