KDFI 27 Affiliating with "i" (formerly PAX)?

As I mentioned in a previous post, there have been promos running regularly on KDFI announcing a change on September 1st. The ads are very cryptic and offer no details or clues as to what the change might be.

Upon visiting KDFI's site (www.kdfi27.com), I noticed a non-selectable, rotating ad banner at the bottom of the page announcing the Sept. 1st change. Again, no details on what the change is. However, only the letter "i" in all text on the ad banner was in red; the rest in white. I wonder if this could mean that the new "i" network, formerly PAX, could be moving from KPXD to KDFI on the 1st.

A couple of PAX affiliates elsewhere in the country defected when PAX changed to "i" a couple of months ago. Not sure if KPXD could be yet another defection.

Just a thought...

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't KPXD owned by Paxson. Seems unlikely there'd be a switch if true.

It's a good guess, but I seriously doubt it. I do know that KDFI is getting Alias re-runs this fall. Perhaps the "i" is highlighted in the word Alias?

KPXD TV/DT is indeed owned by Paxson, so I believe we can rule out a switch to "i"

But the Alias reruns will be on during the weekend, and since September 1 is during the week, Alias won't make it appearance that day.

Looking at their listed schedule for September 1, nothing seems different about the programming. My bet is that when we find out what the "change" is, it will turn out to be something incredibly minor.

As a Fox O&O station, I find it hard to believe that KDFI would be flipping to "I". Fox/News Corp would have issued a press release before now, if this were going to happen. They are methodical in doing that, when the company makes big decisions.

The website banner is intriging, but Fox (and others) do a lot of advertising for other networks. I find it bizarre, since you are competing with these companies, but I guess the bottom line is the most important thing these days, even if it is taking money from your competition. As long as they are not promoting "time-specific" programming, anything goes.
______________

Dammit, at first glance I thought you said they're getting "ALICE" reruns this fall. They can kiss my friggin' grits. Flo rules.

Of course, "i" could really mean "eye", meaning that KTVT is giving up its network designation to Ch 27, and going back to "Bewitched" reruns at 6PM. That'd be a welcome sight.

Supposedly, it is not anymore. I can't remember where I read that this change to "I", also meant that NBC's partnership with Paxson is over. NBC/GE either had a minor stake in PAX or a programming agreement of some sort. I forget all the details right now. If I think about it later, I'll look up the information.
______________

They had purchase some interst in Pax(NBC) but when The Universal acquisition came into play they opted out of Pax.

I haven't seen any PAX/i programming at all for Channel 27
the week of Sept. 5. My information comes from titantv.

Actually NBC still owns 32% of Pax, and they screamed when Pax announced the change to "i." The reports that Pax was going all-informercial (instead of "mostly" infomercial) came from an NBC/Universal press release.

NBC O&Os and Pax O&Os have a LMA in many markets, including DFW. Pax offices and master control are inside the KXAS building in Fort Worth.
