So now that I finally have my HD set
, I don't like to watch Ch 4 news anymore.....it's just to fuzzy
. Anyone know when they are joining the other stations to HD? ???

Just to be certain it's understood, the transition in 2009 does not require stations to program in HD. They are only required to switch to digital - they may use standard definition digital if they wish.
The cost of doing news in HD is staggering. Really, there are few if any parts of the station's technical core that don't need upgrade. Many stations are not done with spending money on digital transmitter gear either - for example, WFAA and KTVT which are changing DTV channels on Transition Day.

What you should know is that Fox owns 23 Fox affiliates, although it is now selling 8 of them. Of the 23 Fox affiliates that Fox owns only one is doing news in HD: WEWS in Cleveland. That station is one of the 8 that's being sold.

The actual station in question in Cleveland is WJW Channel 8. WEWS (Channel 5) is actually the ABC affiliate owned by Scripps. With WJW being sold by Fox, the only O&O that is broadcasting news in HD is their Philadelphia station, WTXF.
