KDFW HD yet?

Anyone know when KDFW going to originate HD? I was at an event recently and saw them using a Panasonic HD camera with the P2 cards, so they are filming in HD. It seems that if they are waiting for the digital switchout to go ahead go HD, the PR department would be all over it.

KDFW sitting on their HD conversion until 02/17 isnt a smart move. I have a gut feeling if they try both within the same week of each other theres going to be problems....

2/17 is no worse and no better than any other date for KDFW to make the move to HD local news. As far as their FCC conversion obligations are concerned, those can be fulfilled in about 2 seconds -- all they have to do is turn off their analog transmitter. They already have a license-to-cover for their permanent digital channel 35.

(they do have a permit open to increase digital power, but the completion date for that permit is not tied to the 2/17 changeover.)

Knowing how these things work, I'd bet we'll see HD on Fox 4 before the May book. Will it be before the DTV switch? Who knows. (I guess that depends on whether congress moves the DTV date AGAIN to June.)

You can quit wondering. Fox 4 News HD as of today. Cool deal! Was still 4:3 this morning. Now full 16:9 displayed image.

Yeah, except at 5 somebody forgot to change the weather header - it still said "Title_Name" and underneath that it said "Sub-Title_Name".

Bugs ready to be ironed.

Now if they will adjust their audio level up to more closely match the other stations. When I tune to Ch 4.1 my Dolby decoder indicates the audio "Dial. Norm" is always 6 dB lower than on 5.1, 8.1, 11.1, 13.1, etc. the exception being sister station 27.1 is the same 6 dB lower "Dial. Norm".

Noticing since KDFW went "HD" that once or twice a minute there's a momentary black line or glitch across the screen only on the local news.

Thank goodness someone else has seen this. I've noticed it too. I first thought there was something wrong with my HD set. Then I noticed it on my SD set. I suspect they've got some bugs to work out.
