KDHT - Hot 107.1 Denver is NOW Denver's Dance Station

No April fools joke here folks. Hot 107.1 has changed over to Denver's Dance Station. The change effective at 6pm MT on Friday 3/30 has Dance Music full time once again on Denver airwaves. Most will remember the former KXDC 102.1X which aired a Pure Dance format back in early 2001. Hot 107.1 will be commercial free all weekend until Monday 4/2 at 6am.

You can listen online at - http://www.hot1071denver.com/streaming_player.html

this is awesome.
So many rhythmic-chrs in other markets that could easily morph into chr-dance just as they did chr-hip, hop, think moniker "hits and hip hop".

The trend continues...I see Hot 107.1 as cutting edge. Might take a while for the larger markets to see chr-dance though. More $$ at stake but if stations like this in Denver perform well it will just be a matter of time.

Congrats to Denver!

Hey guys, keep your eyes on WRDW-FM Philadelphia
It was playing Jessie J domino dance remix and Paradise coldplay dance remix in it's playlist.

It's getting a Pop/Dance lean. :D

Just the other day I thought about posting a thread on how Dance music continues to expand and have more broader appeal. I don't see it peaking anytime soon. Denver getting a Dance station is an indication of bigger things to come.

I'm with you. I believe this will be the first of several stations throughout the U.S. to go Dance!!!!

FWIW, Sarurday nights on B98.5 (WBBO) they have a segment called Kelso's Klubhouse that plays dance radio edits from 10P-2A. Really hope they can go 24/7 since the CHR congestion is horrid here at the Jersey Shore. Link is b985radio.com for anyone to check it out. Back to the subject, I rarely listened to Hot when they were CHR but I did have them on a preset on TuneIn Radio. Now that they are dance, someone will be moving up the list.

Not to burst your bubble, but Dance radio is nowhere near what it was in the mid 90's.

Give things time Gregg.

And to be honest it's not fair to compare decades to this. The late 80's/early 90's was something special for that time with the emergence of house and freestyle into the fold. For this generation, it's the "dj as rock stars" EDM culture. And based on what I've seen at Ultra...it's getting BIGGER and BIGGER and not going anyway anytime soon. For radio NOT to catch on to this is insane.

It's being reported in All Access so I really don't think it's a joke.

Remember, you have a LOT of haters out there that want nothing more than dance music to just go away. They certainly want ME to go away. But until God has something in store for me, I'm not going ANYWHERE! Keep fighting for your music :) We deserve it :)

I have an enormous amount of respect for you, Tony.

It's true, all the news lately about dance music - It's making a slow comeback! This is a big step too.

Another radio site says Hot 107.1 is the only dance station in the US. Actually it is one of three Commercial Dance stations (Drive FX in NY state and Jelli/Vegas being the other ones) and one of several overall (some noncomm dance stations) as well as many on HD2 and two on satellite. The site also says something to the effect of don't expect the format to catch on anywhere else. Says who? There is no substantiation for this opinion. Yes the Denver station is on a rimshot but it's a nice addition to the two existing commercial dance stations. However, a Dance station on a decent signal in a major market (not this rimshot station) will be the barometer for how this format can do in the second decade of the 21st century at a time when the masses are now very familiar with uptempo music. This is the second best time in history to launch such a format IMO, second only to the 1970s disco era.

VERY TRUE :) But for now, let's just take these victories one step at a time :)
