KDKA developing a bench with Saturday Tryouts

"KDKA is using the 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. shifts on Saturdays as a proving ground. Mr. Graci, who said he is "trying to build a bench," has had three new people on air in the past week and a half and expects to add "three or four" more shortly."

I'd be surprised if their weekend tryouts have anything to do with looking for immediate replacements in the regular lineup. I would take this at face value -- they're looking for people to work weekends and fill in on occasion.
