KDKB IS DONE...SO SAD

I'm hearing now that it's a stunt...what we've all forgotten is that KDKB hired a new PD (Buzz Casey from 96 Rock Atlanta) with 16 years experience in the rock format less than a month ago. He's supposedly great at marketing and branding.

I'm told it will stay rock...but different. Bodies went flying out of the Atlanta station shortly after his arrival.

Could it be something else, though? Of course, it's radio...Buzz wouldn't be the first PD to move across the country and three weeks later be told there is no radio station...or to try his hand at a different format.

My search shows Movin98.com was registered by a company in Virginia.

However...Movin933.com was registered through a Scottsdale company (domainsbyproxy.com) at 11:10 this morning.

Hey, we only have to wait 8 days to find out.

Hip Hop? Rock PD...not likely, but it is radio. AAA?? only to compete with KUPD?? Movin? What does Buzz know about Rhythmic AC? Doubt it. Me thinks that this all a bunch of crap and we're gonna hear re-launch of KDKB announcing we're gonna give you another 35 years. The Fall book is coming so format wheels are spinning and marketing plans are being born. If you check Buzz' track record, this is old hat.


All a stunt for some attention. Grab the cume for the fall book....if ya ask me.

Hopefully not. I think Whoopi is only on Clear Channel stations...thankfully KDKB isn't one of them...
 
If it's a ploy for attention, it's pretty cheap , a Sandusky key word.

If they're changing the format, why are they still playing rock ?

If they're changing format, why are they inviting their listeners, via a very cryptic top-of-the-hour ID, to be there for the announcement on the 15th ?

If the entire airstaff got blown out, certainly there would be at least one post here from a disgruntled former staffer clutching a two week severence check.

Then again, if Sandsky's going Album Oriented Espanol, they'll have so much dough they'll be able to pay off Buzz' contract and send him back East ,first class, no harm done. Heck, they might even convert to disposable payroll envelopes.


Also, after running the calls through Google news, there is a complete lack of any sort of announcement in the press or trades. Again, fishy.....

Although there are many of us who would like to mourn the passing of a Valley institution, reports of KDKB's demise might be greatly exaggerated.

I'm thinking the same thing. "93.3 KDKB Still rocks Arizona"... New lineup, new imaging, billboards that are a little less lame... same format.

But, as with most people on here, I am just pulling this from my buttockal region.
 
I'd agree. It will stay Rock, but with a new coat of paint, and maybe a tweaked playlist.
 
KCDX and Radio Free Phoenix supplanted KDKB in my ears years ago.

Probably, the Krazy Dog and Krazy Boy are getting makeovers.
 
Radio and Records is now reporting that KDKB is now stunting running jockless and playing full albums. Sept. 15, 2006 at 9:33 AM the question of the new format will be answered!

Glad to hear it sounds like KDKB may just be getting a facelift.

Call me old-fashioned, but I always hate to see a heritage rocker fall by the wayside. Here's hoping they find the right niche for KDKB in Phoenix's current marketplace.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL It's True!!! I used the same envelope until it eventually fell apart, then it was just placed in my box, in the studio, on the floor.....It also had been previously used, with the old guys name crossed off and mine written underneath! ha ha ha ha. thats one of the funniest things at old 1900. Well, that and plumbing so bad that the toilets rarely work, and when they do, dook seeps out of the rickety old drinking fountain in the hall from time to time. LOL! I got a million of 'em, but I can't stop laughing...

KZZP tried that in 97' and Johnny B's run was short lived. Not to say it won't happen, but personally with all the promotion going into promoting Paul & Torgy's morning show, and I just feel it would be a bad idea to run with someone who lives in Chicago who has not been a real presence in AZ in almost 25 years. I loved Johnny & the Leasure suits when I was a kid, but only time will tell...
