KDKK 97.5 FM - Park Rapids, Minnesota

Here's another streaming Standards station - and this one is an FM station with a 100,000-watt stick that covers a lot of territory in northwestern MN, including Bemidji (being on the other side of the state from that "other" venerable 97.5 in Minnesota). It also airs When Radio Was.

Allegedly this runs Dial Global's format but when I tuned in the other night it sounded like local automation to me, with a music mix not dissimilar to DG's.

This station is locally owned and operated by Ed Delahunt. Ed moved to Park Rapids and started KPRM-AM (then on 1240) in 1962. He added the FM (originally on 103.7) several years later. Three of his kids are also active broadcasters and now have their own stations.

If you want to hear something really unique, tune in weekday mornings for "Coffeetime." Ed hosts a call-in program which starts anywhere from 9:00-10:00, depending on when he gets there. He's extremely opinionated and will take calls on practically any subject. Ed's been doing this for decades.
