If so, then they'll replace it at some point.
Sure, how about they flip the station to Hot AC, the previous format on KUDL before it became The End.
According to management, 107.1 is doing quite well with listeners. Why change it?

It’s mainly that a lot of Smooth Jazz stations ended up flipping formats when PPM came around late last decade.
PPM was the last straw. The format had been aging horribly for a number of years. The PPM showed that the high TSL / lower cume of the diary was really lower TSL and even lower cume.
However, we're talking about a translator here. Stations are using translators for these aging formats, like smooth jazz, classic country, or simulcasting an AM talk format.
Yep. The 107.1 translator puts a 60 dbu signal over only about 20% of the 5-county MSA. It's a nice complement to the other stations, but can't stand on its own.
And as I said before, it was a mistake for iHeartMedia to launch Smooth Jazz on the 107.1 translator.
So if you were the PD, what would you program for 107.1 or what would you use it for?
While I realize there's a lot of overlap, could 107.1 be used as an AM translator for KFBK or KSTE? Yes, I know, KFBK is on 93.1, that's why I mentioned overlap if it's even legal.
All joking aside though, is it worth more as an AM translator for KSTE?

I already knew that iHeartMedia was planning to flip 93.7 when they were registering domains at the same time the license hearing for KDND was scheduled last October. The most surprising thing was that iHeartMedia didn't flip 93.7 to CHR. As for the 107.1 translator, simulcasting KSTE seems like a more logical choice than Smooth Jazz.
Update KSWD Los Angeles is no longer an Entercom station it went to EMF. Now the next issue is how does Entercom handle the Sacramento and San Francisco clusters. This has been a point of contention here mainly because they are over the limit in these two markets.
We'll find out what Entercom's divesting, once the DOJ finishes the review on the merger.
I saw that on the "Religious" board. Nice pickup for EMF. As far as I know, only a win for Air1 in Los Angeles unless the rules have changed or K-LOVE en Espanol has signed off.
As for Entercom's cluster in Sac, if I were in charge, I'm divesting ESPN 1320 and KKDO. Would they really digest KSEG, KUDL, and KRXQ? Probably not.
Or perhaps there has been some form of agreement. Just saying. It's not over until the fat lady sings.
Maybe. With the exception of KYLA, KYRA, and maybe KLRD, Air1 would do nicely on KSWD. It will be interesting to see how that shakes up.
I would've expected EMF to pick up KXOS and flip that station to K-Love. Picking up KSWD instead solved Entercom's divestiture in Los Angeles.

I could not have seen the EMF folks dealing with the GRC people, ever.
On the other hand, tearing down a bit of drywall is a lot more likely. GRC reported massive losses on KXOS in Q1 and Q2 per the Mexican Bolsa de Valores reports... around $1 million per quarter. GRC has had to sell its building in Mexico City and has taken out additional loans to pay a series of government fines, penalties and court judgements and it would seem that converting KXOS to cash may be necessary. But they would lose $25 to $30 million on the sale at today's prices.

They could always try to pick up KXOS for Air1 given their intent (from Inside Radio) is to put K-LOVE of KSWD.
It seems like a logical choice for EMF to acquire KXOS if they want to move Air 1 to a full market signal.
