KDOC and Dr. Scott part company.

I speak of course of the Rev. Melissa Scott and the tapes of her late husband Dr. Eugene Scott. At least, the days are the weeknight 10-11pm broadcast are numbered. The final one airs Thursday, Sept 7. (Roll those VCRs and Program the Tivos) I don't know about the future of the Sunday broadcast, that may yet remain. Now for the REAL news; Before you think that with Dr. Scott gone from weeknights, you have more Bowflex and Time Life CD pitches to look forward to, the new owners of KDOC, Channel 56 are taking the station (are you all sitting down kiddies????) INFORMERICAL AND PAID PROGRAMMING FREE FROM 9AM TILL MIDNIGHT MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY!!!!! So yes, a few more shows have been added to the schedule. And here is the "new fall schedule" effective September 11th.

9am Little House on the Prairie
10am The Rockford Files
11am Quincy
Noon Perry Mason
1pm Matlock
2pm Hawaii Five O
3pm Magnum P.I. (good combo there)
4pm The Nanny
4:30 Mad About You
5pm Becker (2 episodes)
6pm Cheers (2 episodes) (another good combo)
7pm Charlie's Angels
8pm The Untouchables (Original w/Robert Stack)
9pm Alfred Hitchock Presents (2 episodes Mon-Thurs)
10pm Twilight Zone (Mon-Thurs)
10:30pm Night Gallery (Mon-Thurs -- boy these new guys are big on themes aren't they?)
11pm Carson's Comedy Classics (2 episodes Mon-Thurs)

The High school game of the week will air Fridays from 9-11:30pm beginning on Sept. 8. Friday Night Lights will follow at 11:30pm

The new weekend schedule will be unvailed very very soon.

That's a nice lineup of shows right there. Maybe if they can get Fraiser added to the lineup since it got relegated to overnights on KCBS, after it jumped to KCAL from so many years on KCOP. It makes a nice addition to the Becker/Cheers combo.

I wonder what they're doing about weekends, since it's all informericals and Saved by the Bell on Saturday nights. Maybe they add an-all day movie marathon on Saturdays (and Sundays after the religious shows) plus old sitcoms and action dramas mixed in-between.

Wonder no more. I have very mixed feelings about the newly released Satuday schedule effective Spet. 16.
Saved By The Bell is gone. I guess Sunday will be their new E/I day, unless they are planning on adding more to Saturdays soon. "Pet Place" is being bumped up to an all too early 6am, followed by Sportfishing at 6:30. Then except for "The Chef Knows" at 4pm, it's infomercials from 7am-6pm :'( C'mon guys!!! College Football, Movies, someting...don't be lazy. Ok, now for the good news; It's quite a mixed bag of New to KDOC and long been off their schedule returning favorites on Saturday from 6pm till Midnight

6pm Cheers (2 episodes)
7pm Mission Impossible
8pm Hogan's Heros (2 episodes)
9pm McHale's Navy (2 episodes)
10pm The Rat Patrol (2 episodes)
11pm Combat

In all,a really good 6 hour block. Really good theming on their part. But they really need to beef up the daytime, even just a bit. I know a few car dealerships who would flock to solo sponsor a good WWII/Action movie package. I know they're avalible, and at the same rates as the classic TV shows are now priced for OTA Stations.

Not a bad programming block, and they actually brought back Hogan's Heroes and the Rat Patrol. I agree with you about them adding some sports and more movies to the lineup. I mean they snatch away the Lincoln Financial Sports SEC Football game of the week that currently on tape-delay on KJLA. They could also after ESPN Plus syndicated college packages in football and basketball, whether it be the Big East, Conference USA, whomever. And pretty since much KCAL dumped the Ducks, they could have Fox Sports Net buy some time and put some games there. Anytime is possible, but with the new lineups that the new owners are developing, I'm guessing they're gonna figure it out as they go along.

The final chapter on this topic (for now). They're throwing us a small bone on Sundays in the form of an hour of "Cheers" at 6pm and "Mission Impossible" at 7pm. The rest of the evening is filled with Infomercials. Granted its a bit better than how Sundays have been programmed for a long time on KDOC, but there is vast room for improvment. And to bring it back to the original topic line,Ch 56 and the Dr. Scott ministry are indeed parting company. The station will no longer carry any of their broadcasts after 9/10/06

I saw Dr. Gene Scott resurface on KSCI Channel 18. Looks like that's the new home.

If memory serves me right, there was a point in his career when Gene Scott was having troubles with the IRS. At about the same time the FCC turned down his application for a TV station. So, in response, Scott would launch into these long tirades against the government on his show, the FCC and IRS being his favored targets, of course.

Too bad TBN couldn't have given him a slot. Maybe he was too hardscrabble for them. But Scott was the last of the great Los Angeles-based TV preachers walking in the footsteps of Dr. O. Jaggers (and, of course, the lovely Miss Velma) and Rev. Ike.

Scott is on KRON4 (Young Broadcasting) YUCK on Sunday mornings. Scott owned KVOF CH: 38 up here in the Bay Area for years.

...Dr. Scott HATED Trinity Broadcasting. In fact, when he took control of KHOF-TV/30 in San Bernardino, one of the first things he did was bounce both the Crouches (TBN) and the Bakkers (PTL) from the schedule, leaving the Crouches on KLXA/40 in Fontana and the Bakkers heading for North Carolina. Scott didn't get turned down on an application for a TV station, he was stripped of the licenses for Channel 30 and stations in San Francisco and Hartford...

THis guy was such a character that he and the things he did would make a great movie.

yes but that was 1980...a lot of GS history happened after that.

...and who could possibly play him convincingly? Maybe have Jim Carrey bleach his hair and gruff down his voice? ;-) ...

Nick Nolte comes to mind to play Gene Scott
