KDOC Trumps FOX!

Not only have they spirted away the upcoming "best of" seasons of Montel Williams and Judge Hatchett from Fox 11 and My 13, but Sony Television sold its newest court show, "Judge Karen" to KDOC! Somebody REALLY likes them all of a sudden. It also looks as if Daybreak OC is getting scaled back to an hour and moving to 10am (Very strange move if true.....10am is hardly "Daybreak, ne?) This is the new KDOC Fall Schedule as I have it now --

10am Daybreak OC
11am Montel Williams
Noon Perry Mason
1pm Quincy M.E.
2pm Hawaii Five-O
3pm Saved by the Bell (2 eps)
4pm Judge Hatchett (2eps)
5pm Judge Karen (2 eps)
6pm Cheers (2 eps)
7pm Fraiser (2 eps)
8pm America's Funniest Home Videos (2 eps)
9pm Get Smart (2 eps)
10pm The Twilight Zone (2 eps)
Midnight Blind Date
3am Happy Days
3:30am The Andy Griffin Show

Unknown about My 13, but FOX 11 will have much more weekday sitcom hours come September.

Is there some kind of study that says there is a viable audience at 3 in the morning? I never understood why KDOC will run infomercial after infomercial after 12:30am but all of a sudden at 3:00am two sitcoms show up then it's back to infomercials. ???

I'm with Robnoxious with this one...plus they need to junk the informericals on weekend afternoons also. I know as we come into the fall and football season, they wouldn't get too much of an audience. I was a little upset when they bumped Happy Days from the 8pm hour for America's Funniest Videos

I think KCOP will be the one with more sitcoms hours...don't forget that they moved the 12pm hour of I Love Lucy from KTTV to KCOP, to accommodate the 10am news and the debut of the Wendy Williams show (which has now been picked up for a full launch later this fall). I'm guessing that Divorce Court (and one of the other court shows) will move back to Channel 11, and Temptation moves to 13.

Divorce Court and the others will remain on My 13. Temptation is off the schedule come Sept. 8 (was it renewed?) Fox 11 has Malcom in the Middle and 3 episodes of Married With Childern planned for 2-4pm. I believe 3-4pm is the slot perm slot planned for Wendy Williams when that show begins anew.

The "best of" season of Montel Williams will be on My 13, but at 3am, hence (guessing) the offer to KDOC for a better time slot. Perhaps KDOC's willingness to pick up the rerun season of Judge Hatchett is how they landed Judge Karen. It's all about those national ad sales.

The other local channel to watch in daytime this season is KNBC. Will they finally strike some ratings gold with Bonnie Hunt and Deal or No Deal?

I thought Temptation was renewed...but reading otherwise on another site, I stand corrected. Not a big loss anyway...I saw a few episode over the course of the TV season, and wasn't impressed. Its final airing is September 5th.

I already see KCOP running Montel at 3am (having been replaced the repeat of the 11pm newscast).

As far as KNBC, I don't have an opinion on Bonnie Hunt, but with Deal or No Deal, I can't see it staying at 3pm, where the competition is Oprah on KABC and Judge Judy on KCBS (sometimes I forget she's still on the air). It could get the Crosswords treatment, and be moved to noon, when the competition is less treacherous. If I had it my way, just to see how it fare, I would put Deal or No Deal on at 7:30pm. I could see Deal lasting a few years if the ratings are steady.

KNBC has Extra and Access Hollywood for at least 2 more years from 7-8 PM. NBC Universal is a co-producer of the show. Notjhing is moving into that time slot. Too much exposure for Deal or No Deal. They're just going to kill it. It will never work against Oprah, Judge Judy and KCAL 9 News/Inside Edition at 3 PM.
