It's hard to say what makes Google bring up a station (92.1) that hasn't existed in a long time. Maybe they are waiting for an injection of cash from me. If so, they will be disappointed.

Hey what program/hardware device are you using to stream? Sounds good, mono but louder than KZQX.
 
I'm using a Barix Instreamer fed by an Orban 6200 processor. And yes, it's mono. I could make it stereo with a few key strokes, but I really don't see much point in it. It started out as mono for our sports broadcasts, which are mono anyway. Out of market listeners for music constitute an expense, rather than an income source, so the real reason for constantly streaming (and paying royalties to do so) is to allow local listeners to tune in at their desktops. I may be wrong, but I don't think it makes much difference in a "listen at work" environment. It does use half the bandwidth for the same relative fidelity, which is an issue in many environments and on smartphones where you pay for data used.
 
Either way, I still like that I can hear the station in San Antonio (yes I know you hate me for listening out of town, but I can't argue with the fact that it's rather nice).
 
Sorry to interject, but I think you might've misunderstood the Mouse, Chuck. He's in San Antonio listening to you online, instead of listening to his hometown KONO 101 for his classic hits fix. The Mouse appreciates good music, and there's a steady supply coming from Kilgore, Texas. He's not the only one that enjoys some All Hit Radio.

I'm not sure why he thinks you hate him, that was a peculiar statement to me too, lol. You okay over there in the Alamo City, Mouse?

Edit to add: I got it now. You called him an expense, since he listens from San Antonio. Sorry, Chuck. You're spending money on me, too...LOL.

This forum needs "Like" buttons similar to Facebook. KONO is a great station. You may notice that our KDOK jingles sound a lot like some KONO used at one time (maybe they still do). That is not a coincidence. In any case, you are all more than welcome to listen to KDOK anytime you want to. I'm happy to have any and all tuned in, regardless of location.
 
...and here I was thinking it had tapped a vein from the former KLDE from down here, but upon closer evaluation it does bear a striking resemblance to the old Big 86.

I'd like a "like" button myself, Chuck, but Heaven forbid they introduce a "dislike" button. It'd get quite the workout from most participants around here...

January 31, 2013 is when KDOK was reborn on 1240? How ironic...exactly one year to the day later KONO gave up Classic Hits altogether. It was January 31, 2014 when KONO picked up CBS Sports Radio and left KONO 101 to stand on its own.

There was a time when KLDE and KONO had very similar jingle packages.

Heck, there was a time when KLDE was being programmed with KONO's Selector database! ;)

But it's going to suck when I go to the Hill Country in a couple of weeks and can't get music on the Big 86 once I stray beyond 101.1's signal. Sure I can stream it from my phone, but I kinda dig Ancient Modulation. :)

I've been digging through our record library and discovered a lot of really good songs that haven't been heard on the radio in quite some time. As a result, I've added almost 300 new songs to the KDOK play list. I'm sure the consultants think that is stupid, and maybe it is. I guess we'll see. I'm pretty sure that KDOK has a much bigger play list than any station in East Texas with the exception of it's sister station, QX-FM. But it's a different format.

Incidentally, I've switched the web stream over to stereo, and increased the bit rate as well. www.kdokradio.com or on TuneIn and various other internet radio sites.
