KDRP-LP moves its 100.1 repeater into Austin. Reception reports?

Back to the Internet.

::)

At least KDRP is on the Internet. It's actually not a bad station, I have it in my TuneIn presets.

Agreed....but to be within visual distance of the tower and not have a signal.....jeeeezzzz......

I recall KURV-AM in Edinburg had that kind of reception issues back in its 250 watt days.

It used to be we had two classes of FM stations: local (class A) and regional (class B or C depending on the part of the country.) Then came degregulation. And I distinctly remember someone warning us of the AM-ization of FM with directional antennas and stations at all kinds of power levels. Well that's exactly what we have.

I'll see how much time I got after work this afternoon, leaving out of town tonight. If not today I can do it next week.

Thanks bro!

You know, Austin radio is actually getting a little better. Two new stations that care about radio (KOKE and now KDRP)!

Better than San Antonio, IMO. We have the usual big and boring stations, and some low-powered translators. But the low-powered signals that could be owned by real broadcasters are for the most part just illegally operated Spanish stations.
At least we have KNBT 92.1.

Well I wouldn't say better, but with some of the translators it's a little improvement.

Maybe they could change frequencies to 92.9. Or will that interfere with KROM in San Antonio?

I don't know why they cut out into silents in about 40min into the recording.
Thanks for that.
Maybe their feed went dead?

As for the quality, it's okay. Not that bad, but actually not that great either. They could use some compression.

To bad KOKE and them can't swap frequencies. From 98.5 to 100.1.

Would not work out too well for KOKE, 98.5 seems to be a better signal over more people within Austin than 100.1

I don't know if anyone else heard this but I was picking up jack FM in Victoria here, but then I heard KOKE like it was on 98.7 also? I can hardly get the translator, so I know it was not strong enough for it to be bleeding over, and it didn't sound like it was bleeding over. This happened a few days ago.

As KDRP 100.1 is stronger, I added them to my presets in place of the beat in Austin. No reason in me keeping "2" top 40 stations in my presets.

KDRP isn't top 40, unless you have KHFI in your presets too.

I was talking about having The beat (In Austin) and KHFI (they both sound to much alike.) That is why I replaced The beat with 100.1.

KHFI & KPEZ sound more alike now that the The Beat has added Ke$ha and Britney Spears. What's next for the Beat, Taylor Swift? But back on topic, I'm so happy to hear Bo Chase was able to jump from 98.9 to mornings at KDRP.

A good friend of mine underwrites for KDRP. Just curious in what kind of music format does KDRP have? Is it still Variety and Talk?

I will have to fire up my Onkyo Monster Surround receiver the only one receiver in the house that can pick up Jammin 103 loud and clear and set it to 100.1 I just got a new laptop with Windows 8, and it has the Tune In App. I will be tuning in tomorrow. Rise up radio was bumped from the schedule according from inside sources. Hopefully, that will be back on.

From what I've heard, Americana music mostly.

And Larry Monroe does his shows at that station now after leaving KUT.
