Flipped over and heard them simulcasting KXAL/Tatum 100.3. What happened to the talk format? And wonder what Waller's gonna do with it now?<P ID="signature">______________

Seems to be more of Dudley's format wanderlust. Meantime, there appears to be nothing much happening with The Breeze, either, but one could also ask "What is there to happen with the station?" It's just "there," and not much else can be said.

103.1 is a perfectly good signal that is just going to waste by Waller constantly flipping from one poor format to another.

We need an oldies station in Longview and points north. Put oldies on 103.1 or let Gleiser have it to simulcast KDOK.

A lot of people agree with you. Just as many of us wonder what the issues are from both the buyer's and seller's perspectives that keep it from happening.

Gleiser obviously has the resources to acquire the frequency but it doesn't happen. Maybe for whatever odd reason he's just not interested. Waller, on the other hand, is known for hording frequencies and merely playing around with them, dangling them in front of others, doing the "look what I have" routine, and wanting prospectibe buyers to come to him with all manner of offers. And on at least one occasion a deal has been struck for other properties and Waller backed out of it.

I believe Gleiser really wanted 95.3 for KDOK, not KDVE. That 103.1's a rimshot in Longview and can't get into Tyler keeps anyone from doing anything serious with it.

I was hoping Waller would improve things, but ever since Dudley sold the Ranch and Sunny he has run 103.1 cheap as On-Air family did.

The Talk format schedule was fairly good and could have picked up some ratings, but I heard long periods of dead air that should have been replaced with local Spots/PSA's many times. Next format please, typical cheap-ass East Texas radio.

You are correct. 95.3 as a medium for extending KDOK would have made far better use of the frequency than is Waller using it as part of The Breeze. IIRC 95.3 formed part of the group that Gleiser originally was offering to buy from Waller, then suddenly the whole deal was off, leaving Access 1 buying out KYKX/KOOI/et al and Dudley retaining 95.3.

A second good point you make--dead air and sloppy programming obviously mean nothing to many owners.

Or PD's ask Dru.

You actualized what I was thinking.

Given KDVE's coverage of the areas north of Longview (Pittsburg, etc) I think a good spanish format would be the right fit. However, I am not sold on "Brisa". Then again, I am not in the target demo either.

There have been several AM attempts to put a spanish format in Mt Pleasant that failed (KIMP and KEGG for a few months) but this could be one that clicks. But its bound to fail again if Waller fails to promote or hire anyone in this area to sell it.
