KDWN 720 AM.....FM???

Will Beasley finally switch one of the new FM sticks it just bought to put KDWN on the FM Dial.... it's the only vegas talker that is STILL on AM. Thanks. I'm thinkin 105.7 KDWN FM. IMHO.

I doubt they'll flip The Oasis since the rhythmic AC format is giving 105.7 the best numbers ever. If anything, 107.9 would probably flip to KDWN-FM, or Beasley could do it the cheaper way and put KDWN on an FM translator :p

I also doubt that they will do it, because they are promoting themselves as being the most powerful Las Vegas/Nevada station with 50,000 Watts. Get on a freeway, their signal travels, no matter what direction you go. I'm sure this promo is aimed at all the rest of the Las Vegas AM stations, that fade out as you hit a bend in the road. The FM signals are good in the portion of the valley, near to their towers.

There isn't room for 3 Talk FMs (or 4 if you include KNPR). I can't think of any market with 3 FM talkers. While I would expect the share to grow at this point there is only 0.7 shares of FM talk...there is no need to split that tiny share any further.

I agree with musicman3355. 105.7 is doing good with their current format. They are the second highest rated of the four Beasley FMs. No reason to flip it to talk or anything else.

Why does everyone suddenly think there is a need for more talk on FM in Las Vegas? Just because the geniuses over at CBS did it? Have you seen the KXNT-FM/AM numbers???? In the latest trend KXNT-FM is ranked 25t and KXNT-AM is 29t (P25-54). When you combine the shares, it's not even a full share. Even the combined P35-64 is barely over a share. So, why would you think Tom Humm or Beasley would be dumb enough to follow CBS's lead and waste an FM signal on a format that isn't viable in the Vegas market?

Putting it on a translator sounds easy, but you'd have to find/create a translator and the new applications are frozen. Those of us who have translators value them very highly. Our experience at Lotus, putting the ESPN sports talk 1100 AM signal on the 98.9 translator shows well and ratings have improved overall, probably a result of the translator. Remember we are a translator, not a main signal so the translator is rated along with rather than seperately from the main transmitter that is translated.
