KDWN-AM IBOC TURNED OFF TONIGHT

The KDWN IBOC is turned off tonight! Thank goodness! Let's hope it stays off, both night *AND* day. It completely ruins 700-740, including all news KCBS-AM 740 from San Francisco. And, Michael Savage's voice sounds blunted under IBOC, the worst invention in the history of radio, in my opinion...with the annoying hissing sound, and the loss of high frequencies.

If Michael Weinerboy's voice sounds blunted under IBOC, that's one good thing about it.

Yeah the IBOC is switched off today too. But the audio sounds really muddy, so who knows whats going on. I'm sure they didnt spend the money for IBOC just to switch it off a month later.

Maybe there is a lawyer that will sue over this matter? I WONDER WHO TO CALL?

Stations on 710, and 730, were probably very upset over the 720 KDWN IBOC hash (the hash is the sizzling sound you hear on those frequencies - and they may have already sued or threatened to sue, as you suggested.
KXNT or whatever has their IBOC on during the day so you can hear it at 830 and 850).

Citadel Broadcasting decided to turn off the IBOC on all their stations at night.

I've tried to tune in the IBOC signal of KDWN for the last three days and cannot find it. I get a rock solid signal using the Sangean HDT-1, but no IBOC. Actually, I never even knew that KDWN had installed IBOC yet. When did they first turn it on? And where has it been for the last few days if it is installed?

I noticed it a few Saturdays ago while tuning into Kim Kammando. I was still half asleep tuning down the dial from 1100 and yelled, "Alright, IBOC hash on 720!" The audio still sounds awful even since they turned it off. Guess they like narrowvanding.

Yesterday (Tuesday) they got the distortion problem cleared up. Before that, it was distorted, like if someone had the volume turned up way too high, even at low volume levels.

By the way, those Tuscany Security guards really guard that property around the towers. Monday night was a nice evening, and I was in the area so I got some photos of the towers at sunset.

This 55+ year old construction worker with a shaved heavily tanned bald head, white shirt, and foreign accent, yells out, "HEY YOU CAN'T TAKE PICTURES OF PRIVATE PROPERTY! MY BOSS IS OVER THERE, AND SHE WILL WANT ME TO DO MY JOB!"

Well....I was on *PUBLIC* property taking photos of the towers with pink mountains in the distance...

LOL
