KDWN: "Four Codgers with Coathangers"

While all of their criticisms of the old station were valid, The new KDWN won't do much better. They didn't go from bad to good, they went from bad to sterile. With no local talk the station has no soul.

I am 33 and I was a daily listener to KDWN for 10 years I also have friends around my age that also listened just because the professional callers that always called on a daily basis was older doesnt mean that represented KDWN 100 percent listening audience by the way all of the callers on KDWN also called the local shows on KXNT the nice thing about KDWN when they had local hosts they were from our city which made them feel more like a buddy you know at the local bar and unlike KXNT every host wasnt a kool aid drinker for the Bush Administration and the Republican Party

I am in the preferred demo range stations prefer. But I enjoyed listening to Part time Pete on KDWN. I have never heard a host be able to identify nearly every caller without the aid of a screener who would list them on a computer screen. They may have been up there in age but most were a joy to listen to. Lady Jane, Devonshire,Cab driver, Pharmacist,Granny,Music Maestro etc. I wish KDWN would bring Pete back say from 1-5am and add a toll free number to encourage distant listeners to phone in. This would be a good mix with the locals. I have gone from a regular KDWN listener to someone who only listens now to the Savage nation

There's an old but accurate saying. Watch out for what you wish for, you just might
get it. The old KDWN was a total anachronism, yet so far the Beasley version is
totally forgettable.

I liked the attorney Bob Mass, the garden show...Dr. landow was ok..as people say at least they were local...the news is sterile..do you think you'll hear an investigative report? on kdwn?

I saw a KDWN commercial on TV. It was about KDWN being the news, traffic, weather station. Beasley is certainly a big believer in TV advertising, unlike KDWNs previous owner who never spent money on TV or any other type of advertising or promotion.

Sing-it Tu-Pac: It's the Same Ol' Song... been all around the world..

The experience some of us had with Beasley-LV's management team will ensure KDWN stays in the pooper. TV will help pull the numbers out of the 1s, but my money is on concrete face diving. eMail me in a year so I can "i yold you so."

No need to e-mail you in a year onairla, I already know you are right. KDWN actually fell below 1 share land in the most recent trend. The changes Beasley made will push KDWN back into the 1s, but I can't see them doing much better.

While it's good that they are spending money on TV (it's the first time I remember KDWN doing any advertising since some RJ and SUN ads in the late 70s), it will give them some type of mind awareness but not make them a success.

The morning news block and Michael Savage might pull over a 2 share, but overall I wouldn't be surprised to see KDWN in the 1s. It will be a challenge for Beasley to increase ratings and revenue enough to justify the 17 Million dollars they spent on the purchase price.
