So I stumbled upon a discussion from 2023 about Boomer 104.1 Missoula. Was searching to try to find some information on Boomer and everything, including the FCC is so outdated. SO...for those interested, here's the round-up. This has been the case since before 2023...and I think even a few years before that. It's been that long since KMSO had their HD on and had the translator for 104.1. When they did, it was WILD 104 if memory serves. KMSO was no longer HD after that. Sounds like they sold their HD equipment to Western Rockies Radio.
So...KDXT (10kw transmitter in Stevensville, MT) is HD at 97.9. Owned by Western Rockies Radio. HD1 is their main signal "107 the Ranch"...107.1 being the FM translator they have in Missoula. HD2 is (supposed to be) 94.3 The Ride...also Western Rockies Radio. 94.3 is their translator in Missoula. HD3 is (supposed to be) Boomer 104. 104.1 being their FM translator in Missoula. I am reasonably sure Boomer is theirs too.
Note the "supposed to be" in there. The reason I say that is because for the last few years (3+ years) Their HD has been spotty. Sometimes it's on, sometimes it's not. Sometimes 97.9's HD is on but no sub-channels. Sometimes the subs are on but dead air. Sometimes Boomer is on HD2 and sometimes it's on HD3. When the subs are on, HD1 is 97.9/107.1 's main signal..stereo and VERY tinny...way too much high end. HD2 and HD3 (the Ride and Boomer) are mono.
Phew! Hopefully that clears some stuff up. The reason I was looking for more info was to try to contact them about Boomer...and no information exists on that as for ownership...nothing pointing to Western Rockies Radio. But it's definitely not KMSO...especially given that KMSO is gone as of the end of last year.
I fired off an email to Western Rockies Radio about Boomer, but haven't gotten a reply....which isn't unusual. I guess they guys just don't reply to messages. I've tried before.
