KEBE 1400 Jacksonville

Last night, KEBE began rebroadcasting KZQX's "QX-FM" format as a simulcast of 100.3 Longview and 97.9 Tyler. I'm not sure how we explain that "QX-FM is now on AM." It will probably confuse the folks at Arbitron, if not the general public. There is still work to do on improving the audio quality, but if you are in a reasonably strong signal area, it sounds pretty good for AM.

I hope the folks in Jacksonville enjoy it.

I was in Jacksonville today on other business. I was pleasantly surprised at how KEBE sounds. I think it can be tweaked to be a bit better, but it isn't bad, especially compared with other AM stations in East Texas. For a small station, the daytime coverage is pretty good too. (Nights are a different story).

Last night a little north of Frankston I heard KEBE playing Etta James' "At Last" (briefly flipping to QX-FM's Tyler translator to confirm) and it sounded very good. Shortly afterward the signal was completely gone, replaced by what I assume was KUNO Corpus Christi. At least KEBE covers Jacksonville at night!

I caught both 96.7 and KEBE (after an ID mentioned the simulcast) on I-20 yesterday about 1-2 miles east of the US 69 turnoff.

I was really surprised to catch both stations. 96.7 had a pretty good signal for a few miles. KEBE 1400 was a little noisy (probably from ignition noise) but still listenable.

KEBE is such a little jewel in the rough. I hope that whatever QX-Fm's deal is with Waller that Chuck is able to make some money with KEBE.

Ill bet Dudley Waller himself listens to the new KEBE/QX-AM ! There is finally something in Jacksonville to listen to if you're over 30!

Well I listen on my iPhone everyday, because most all stations in the country are pretty bad and have almost no variety. The variety and the great music keeps me glued to QX-FM
