KEBE Silent? Again, or permanently

When does the Silent Notice expire? Around January 14? That's just a couple of weeks away. I wonder what will happen. Just out of curiosity, the last time I was in Jacksonville, I drove by the transmitter site. From the street, the tower and building looked fine. The grass was cut. When I had it, it was a pretty nice facility. From the outside, it looked like nothing had changed. But it wasn't on the air and hasn't been for a very long time.
Filed for operations resumption yesterday, Chuck.
Perhaps I shouldn't care, but I hate to see this station have an untimely end.
I care, and I'm not bashful about it in anyway. Mr. Waller, if he knew, would be spinning in his grave. Bill should've been left to continue his father's legacy and, oh by the way, this is all the direct result of a daughter with a 🐂 💩 vendetta.

Well, now. That was rather therapeutic. I think I'll go have a beer, or 6, for lunch.

Thanks for the update.
My pleasure, Chuck. Oh, not that it is any surprise at all, but 1400 is a very, very weak KGVL coming from Greenville right now. No sign of J'ville, with the outdoor pointing directly at it. Swinging around the opposite way (NW) helps bring in KGVL, as usual.
Bill and I got along very well.
Good people tend to get along with one another, Chuck. Some folks just don't get a man like Bill Waller. It's really quite simple. If you were in it to win it and actually cared about the product the Waller Family was putting out there, he cared about you. Rough talker at times, yes, but he knew his shit and was proud of the reputation within the community and of those who put in the time, sweat, and energy towards his family's business.
I'm sure Dudley would not be happy at the way this has played out.
He wouldn't. KEBE is where it all began for him, after he and Miss Dottie left El Dorado to come to J'ville. That was the foundation of the Waller "empire", if you will. KOOI was the workhorse and his moneymaker. KEBE was his baby. He bought stations, and he sold stations, all over this area. You know that. Never 1400, though. That is, until you.

I believe, and this is just me talking now, that it was his comfort level with you and who he believed you to be that truly netted you the license for KEBE. Heck for, after you basically installed an entire new Nautel plant out there, things were looking really bright for the old girl.

Then, well... J'ville's loss ended up being Tyler's gain. Sure glad to have the oldest AM in ETX cranking out the tunes, again, that it did in back in its glory days, but just a little sore about the ongoing desolation that continues down U.S. Highway 69.

Thanks for the very kind words.

No sir. Thank you for having the unbridled passion you have for this industry and your undeniable love for its history.

You are one of the unsung heroes in ETX. Kaci Koviak has an ongoing feature called "Remarkable Women of East Texas" on KETK news. If, ever, a dedicated segment were created for us men, you would be the first in line.

God bless and speed, Chuck. Happy New Year to you, partner!

I'm down in Houston, driving around 7:35pm tonight, sitting on 1400. A voice faded up in time to mention North Texas Radio Group LP and 104.7 FM. I came home and found this thread. Unless my ears are playing tricks, KEBE was what I heard. Can anyone up there confirm they're back on the air?

What are they airing, Wildthang? I will give it a check after sunrise, since KEBE was always stuck in the noise floor at night, up here in Swan. This would mark the first time it has been on the air since July of 2922.

It's about damn time. You heard it on the AM side in Houston, obviously, I'll check with Bill Betten down in Maydelle and see if he's hearing either or both of the translators.

Thanks for the awesome report, Jim!

Well, what d'ya know? It is on the air. Sounds like they have finally found the long, lost tower site missing since the first silent notification was filed.

Happy New Year, Jacksonville! There's random music being played in the graveyard now. KEBE has returned from the dead.

Wow AM radio still exists in the year 2922

Just wait until your eyes wear out, partner. Obviously, 2022. July to be specific. 3 years, 5 months, and some change between the last time KEBE had the plant lit up and now.

Someone on the DX board from elsewhere in texas posted this:

This is station #513 in the logbook but only my third on 1400 (aside from local KHCB).
