KECG El Cerrito

It looks like KECG may be a goner. This STA was filed today.
-------------------
WEST CONTRA COSTA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT writes:

KECG and Translator K249DJ are licensed to the West Contra Costa Unified School
District. The broadcast studio is located at El Cerrito High School.

The West Contra Costa Unified School District does not have a job title for “Station
Manager,” so daily station operations have been performed by the Radio Teacher, who
has submitted time cards for this additional work.

In February, 2025, those time cards ceased to be authorized, so the Radio Teacher
stopped performing the necessary work required for regular broadcast operations.

On February 27 2025, KECG El Cerrito and K249DJ San Pablo ceased broadcast
operations pending District review of the staffing required to maintain broadcast
operations. District administrators were informed of the FCC regulations regarding STA
requests in an email on January 8, 2024, when Translator K249DJ was off the air due to
copper theft.

On March 20, 2025, the District Communications Director requested filing of a “Request
for Silent Authority STA” with the FCC.

Could the district fulfill its requirement by using a volunteer "Station Manager" to bring the station into compliance and be on call to maintain same?
I'm assuming such a person would not need a teaching certificate.
(Asking for a friend 😎)
