KEDA San Antonio & KROB Robstown

On a drive across South Texas I noticed that both station are doing "conjunto" with live DJs. KEDA is calling itself "Radio Jalapeño" and KROB just calls itself "K-Rob." The music is Spanish but the DJ patter was mostly English. Both stations were promoting a festival KEDA was holding in San Antonio today (9/23) but I can't recall any commercials on either station. It's nice to know conjunto lives.

Before KROB, conjunto used to be on KUKA 105.9 "La Tejana" in Alice and used the 94.3 translator in Corpus. When KUKA flipped to country, they transferred the translator to KROB. Did you happen to check if 94.3 was still being used by KROB?

Yep, I know for a fact that 94.3 is being used by KROB, as I was around the area a month or so ago and heard both signals simulcasting.
Also, I know that KROB and KEDA both run some ads, as I've heard them both play ads.

Wish KEDA would put themselves on FM already like KROB. Also it would be nice if the pair of stations would stream their audio online.

Maybe Cox will LMA it's 104.9 translator.

Yeah, that. Or, the Radio Ola group can LMA 93.7 or, after moving it away from Wild, 105.9. And Claro might have another FM signal they won't be doing anything with soon. All the possibilities... LOL.

Well, they heard you. The website is now back on and now has a live stream link.

I tweeted one of the DJ's for KEDA and she said they'd have a stream up this week, and not only do they have a stream up now but KEDA is also in TuneIn Radio once again. Said DJ also confirmed that KEDA on FM isn't a rumor and that it'd be up soon, but she's not sure of the channel.

Congrats to them for finally getting bigger and better in San Antonio.

Ask them if it will be on 104.9

I can do that, however I'm not sure if a DJ who told me the other day that she wasn't sure can answer such questions now. This is probably a question for the KEDA admins - but I don't have much of a way to contact them directly and ask them. No contact link up on the website except a phone number. I suppose I can call tomorrow or something.

But is there really a point -- 104.9's supposed to be linked to 680 AM KKYX, not 1540 AM KEDA! Or has there been a change in the license for the translator somewhere?

Over all my best bets for signals of KEDA on FM are 87.75, 93.7, 95.7, 102.3, 103.1, 104.1, or 105.9. Most of those channels are of course assuming Claro buys out a station. Or he can launch a new one.

The translator can change its parent station anytime. It just needs to file notice with the FCC within a certain number of days. However, I wouldn't look for Cox to let the 104.9 translator go to KEDA. I just don't see it happening. Cox didn't buy that translator to just turn around and get rid of it.

In case you do not know 93.7 is part of Radio Hola. I don't think they will give up thier frequency without a fight.

Oh I know that. When I posted that message I knew Radio Ola was trying to LMA or sell 93.7.

And they did sell it according to this. http://radiodiscussions.com/smf/index.php?topic=195530.20
Doesn't look like 93.7 will change stations, however. On top of that, it wasn't even sold to the Claro group. So it seems KEDA on K229BJ is not happening (which might be a good thing since it doesn't cover much of the city with a useable signal).

I tweeted one of the KEDA DJ's a couple weeks ago about the status of KEDA's upcoming FM (not the same one), he said they were ready but waiting on the FCC.

Checking www.FCCInfo.com and searching for "Gerald Benavides", "GAB LLC", "Claro Communications", and "St. Jude Broadcasting" I can't find anything that looks like it will broadcast KEDA except for that 101.7 station. http://radiodiscussions.com/smf/index.php?topic=226338.0
Does the FCC need to do something in order for 101.7 to make it? He might as well just move that channel to 101.5 before the FCC gives him a green light assuming that's what he's waiting on. 101.5 is a clear signal.

Can anyone else find another station he's applying to start up? I couldn't.

Then there's a possibility the DJ I asked didn't have the correct info.
