KEDG Alexandria flipping frequencies...?!?!?

According to All Access, Cenla broadcasting who is LMAing KEDG from Flinn broadcasting plans to move the Cenla produced top rated Urban format station from a class A on 106.9 to KKST 98.7 currently a c1 licensed to Oakdale (but broadcasting off the same Forest Hill site as KRRV and KZMZ).

Not said in the article but assumed, the a/c on 11th ranked KKST would appear on 106.9

This would allow Cenla to keep the top rated station in Cenla in the fold if and/or when they have to stop the LMA of KEDG with Flinn once the takeover of CC Alexandria is complete.

Based upon last published book, this would give Cenla the number one, two, and three stations in Cenla.....

Speculation is new rock will return to KZMZ with Cenla station KQID already playing alternative rock at night in a 4 hour block and this would allow for them to expand on this.

What everyone thing and know?

we can only hope!! i listened to 103.7 tonight. 96.9 needs that format! bad!! some of the new rock i heard was actually good. muck like the stuff i listened to 20 years ago! new rock is getting better.

Ok boys and girls, here is what you didn't know.

CenLa takes over LMAing all the Clear Channel stations on August 1st pending the sale. The LMA with Flinn ends at the end of this month leaving 106.9 to find a new format in a hurray.. As I figure Cenla's taking Kiss (KEDG with them as soon as they can) as previously reported.

I was speculating on new rock on ZMZ as The cenla group is pretty active with a alt rock list on KQID at times and some of the music may be better played there on zmz IMO

and cela probably knows stale classic rock sucks! :)

tonight i turned on the radio at midnight. 98.7 is now hip hop. i cant pick up 106.9 so i dont know what they are doing. and kzmz was playing some really obscure rock! ;D heres hoping its changing!!

For those who don't know...

106.9 took over the "star" format but apparently has gone more in a hot a/c format style apparently Sat fed into Cenla than the previous a/c format of 98.7

Also ESPN 1410 is no more... replaced by K-Dixie 1410... a "unforgettable memories" type Nostalgia oldies station

k-dixie ;D sounds like that would have been popular in 1966 not 2006

Don't know the amount but found out today who took over the LMA.... Opus Media in September took over KEDG 106.9 and is advertising it as a 80s-90s- and now station but sounds like a Sat fed Hot a/c station.

That and Tiger 104.3 (KEZP Opus' Classic Hits station) is now running Bob and Tom in the mornings now that they are gone from KZMZ (who took on the radio Gawds from Houston)

K-Dixie my guess is an attempt to make a play on the Am stations callsign KDBS. I mean opus does have a K-Buck in town (classic country KBKK)

K267AN-FM 101.3 MHz is a translator at 250 watts and is currently on the air rebroadcasting another translator licensed to Pineville (K217FD 91.3 FM) whose signal covers more of the northern part of the parish than 101.3 does (but both relay the Bible broadcasting network from a feed from NC)

KCJN-LP 107.9 was apparently off the air as I got no hint of it in downtown Alexandria (where the station is a hip hop station basically)

KZMZ is harder and is playing some rock that you don't hear too often but playlist is still ending at about 2001 right now

Opus already leased it out and put the "Star 106.9" thing on it. Seems to be doing pretty well.

How's it doing well? I hear nothing but bonus spots from the other Opus stations on it, an almost-nothing-but-talk morning show that's out of market and nothing but satellite feed music the rest of the day. This is the same thing a station in Natchitoches was doing, the same thing a station in Marksville was doing.

Alexandria's an arbitron-rated market. It's absentee radio, and it's small-town.

You must not have looked at the ratings of that morning show. It is one of the top rated shows in the nation!

What's that got to do with THIS market?

John Boy & Billy get huge numbers elsewhere, too, and yet in this market...

...besides, Ace & T.J. returned to Hunstville via syndication on the same station they'd been on back when they were living there, and damn near killed that station in syndication.

It's more of a oldies station but found their new website and the fact that Cenla is actually streaming this AM station.

http://www.kdixie.com/

Players are at 24kb and 128kb

So is 106.9 still satellite fed? Seems they could at least do local voicetracking.
