 Keep XM Led!!!

i just read that XM Led is a temporary channel on the XM band. WTF! the only thing that ever even made me THINK about buying an XM receiver. it will sign off in May. if jimmy buffet and elvis can have their own channel on sirius, WHY cant the icons of rock have their own station?!

by far the best station on XM, providing that most the XM stations sucks... NO ACTIVE ROCK STATION! whats up with that?!

Re:  Keep XM Led!!!

i own all of their songs. i just think its always more fun when #1 you dont know what to expect and #2 its on the radio for thousands to hear

Re:  Keep XM Led!!!

Dude from day 1 everyone knows it was a temp channel..or a micro channel. btw it goes away march 6 ;D thought I would cheer you up ;D

Re:  Keep XM Led!!!

Jimmy Buffett doesnt have his own channel(on Sirius), its called "Margaritaville", and it features not just Buffett's tunes but many others. Elvis (THE Icon of Rock- the King) does have his own channel, and with a playlist of over 1800 songs, and being the #1 artist of all time it might be alot more understandable. XM has Led, and now the gloved one (Michael Jackson) as its temporary single artist channels. Sirius offers Bruce Springsteen as a temp single artist channel, and has had The Rolling Stones, the Who and Pink Floyd in the past.

Re:  Keep XM Led!!!

This is just like the new "Thriller" channel on XM 63. Playing a bunch of Michael Jackson/Jackson 5 stuff to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the release of the album Thriller. The page for it says that you'll hear it "during March" - so I wouldn't expect to hear it by the time April rolls around.

I enjoy these specialty channels. I don't think there are many artists that would be able to sustain a channel by themselves. Elvis and the Beatles - maybe.. but few others.

Re:  Keep XM Led!!!

Someone must have mis-read the psoting on XM:

"XM LED to Ramble on Again Later This Year

XM LED: The Zeppelin Channel is on a temporary hiatus from XM Satellite Radio but don't be alarmed now cause it won't be swingin' from the gallow's pole. We've still got a whole lotta love for XM LED and will bring it on home to ramble on in the light like a fool in the rain later this year. So don't get sick again in the evening, enjoy your dancin' days and boogie with stu down by the seaside without getting dazed, confused or trampled underfoot. XM LED's presence will be down on the tiles when the levee breaks and ready to rock and roll! Your time is gonna come and the song will remain the same later in 2008! Until then, thank you."

This was also announced on XM for about a month prior to the "end"

Re:  Keep XM Led!!!

XM LED is returning later this year, I don't see all the commotion about this.

This seems to me like an attempt to sirius-size the XM airwaves. Now they have XM Thriller, and now the new Strait Country the George Strait channel coming to XM in April :(

is this an extra station or the take over of another? i don't mind the short periods of an artist take over of a channel (i.e. XM Thriller), I'd rather see a temp channel with all one artist but not what Sirius does for long periods of time (How long have they suspended the Bridge for an all Springsteen channel? And the first incarnation of Rolling Stones radio took out a station for a while).

Re:  Keep XM Led!!!

I'd rather they just either add 2 more genres / channels, or stop with the whole 'this artist is more important then all others' nonsense and preserve bandwidth. I didn't get satellite radio just to hear the same artists & bands I could've heard on regular (commercial) FM.

Granted, I like Led Zeppelin, but I don't think any artist should have its own channel. Even if they had XM - Radio, Radio and played all Elvis Costello songs, I still would get tired of hearing just his music.

Margaritaville, Frank's Place, et al. ...I can understand those channels, as they did not always play 24/7 Jimmy Buffett or Frank Sinatra songs respectively. If you wanted interviews, go out and buy DVD's of your favorite artist(s).
