keep your eyes on 105.1 also

i know tom taylor in radio-info newsletter said that cbs could flip either 92.3 or 102.7 to news talk

but i think that cc could beat them too it with a flip of 105.1 to news/talk of some sort

i know that cc gets good numbers on 105.1 but sometimes you got to do what you got to do

And leave Hot 97 the only hip-hop station to threaten Lite-FM again. ;D

Doubt 105.1 (or 104.3) is going to flip to Sports or News/Talk... 105.1 serves to steal enough listeners from Hot 97 to keep Lite FM #1 :)

As for 104.3, why fix what ain't broke? 104.3 is a pretty good Classic Rock station if you ask me, and is actually doing well...

I'm confused, isn't 101.9 flipping to talk??
Yes, WRXP is going talk very soon (in fact by the end of the week), and there was some speculation that CBS or CC would flip a station to news/talk? Doubt CBS will touch Fresh as it's actually doing well, same with Now...

AGREED! CC would do best to leave 105.1 alone. It's serving its purpose of keeping Lite-FM #1. If anything happens with Emmis and 97.1 gets sold and flipped, CC gets to inherit Hot's listeners, who would have nowhere else to go. IMHO, CC can't lose if they leave well enough alone! :)

The fact that Power is continuously competitive with Hot alone, PPM period in and PPM period out, should be proof that 105.1 should stay the course in its current form.

Would it have been too much of a loss if Emmis flipped WRKS instead of RXP?
98.7 Kiss does in some ways compete with it's own sister station Hot 97.

What I would've tried to do if I were them, Flip Kiss to a new format, forcing all those listeners to mostly BLS or Hot 97
and add some more old school to the Hot 97 playlist to better compete with BLS & Power,
or just buy BLS from Inner City altogether.

The end result, we keep RXP and a new talk station while still keeping the urbans in competition as they always have.

Of course I know it all won't happen but I'd like to see it if it ever did. :p

if emmis would have put rxp on 98.7

hot 97 would have too have a slowjam show between 10pm-2am

btw rxp sounds great on its last day this is how modern rock radio should sound

CBS has flipped its Chicago version of Fresh to a simulcast of WBBM-AM 780, the market-leading station which runs an all news format. But Chicago's Fresh was a lot weaker performer than New York's so the two situations aren't necessarily analogous. That's probably just a temporary stunt to mess up Merlin's rollout of spoken word programming in Chicago anyway. They're likely to try something else to bring a new revenue stream back on line as soon as they've done whatever damage the similcast is likely to do to Merlin's plans. WBBM needs no help. In New York, WCBS and WINS need no help from a simulcast either, and since the FM stations in the CBS cluster are all profitable they won't be asking for it. (WCBS-FM in particular is safe, since you never kill the #2 station 6+ in any market, especially when it skews 35-54 and beats up its competition in workplace listening.)
