KEGL HD2

I can see there’s no HD2. Also I don’t know if this is new but I can’t get HD on 92.5, 94.9, 98.7, 101.1, 102.9, 103.7, or 107.1. The only station I mentioned with RDS is 103.7.

92.5 ditched their HD2 a while back. I think only 107.9 has a HD2. I had no issues with the other stations mentioned. I just noticed 97.1 HD2 is now history. I actually enjoyed listening to The Breeze. Nice Soft AC music.

The stations I posted about didn’t even have an HD1 when I posted about them. 107.9 added TUDN Radio to HD3

Did iHeart kill "The Breeze", or I just can't tune my HD radio to KEGL HD2?
They turned it off nationwide I believe last week. It’s also gone from Chicago. It was last a national feed with numerous Legal IDs. It was taken off in Milwaukee in 2020. I liked listening during Christmas when WLIT (which has basically the same format) would go all Christmas in early November. A simple switch to their HD2 and it would be good to go until I was ready for Christmas music

I wonder what is the reason?

They've been turning off HD2 channels across the country. It's not specific to Dallas. The reason for this one was to put the "Breeze" brand on the air in as many markets as possible so nobody such as Audacy could use it. Now, they probably do not care. At the time they put these HD2 subs on the air, launching this format seemed all the rage. It faded for the most part although they do have some successful stations running it (WLIT in Chicago, The Breeze in San Francisco are both often Top 5 stations, even with 60s and 70s music in rotation) but I don't believe they are worried about anybody else using it in these markets anymore, thus they turned off the HD2s.

In Philadelphia, it didn't work out as well. Can't expect it to, they have been changing the format on that signal numerous times over the last decade or so. They don't seem to have much dedication to that signal. They just switch it. The Breeze in Philadelphia did OK 6+, but it didn't work out in the 25-54s, and therefore it probably didn't bill that great.

As for what they replaced The Breeze with in Philadelphia, Supposedly, like with Sports radio, there is a certain sect of advertisers that will advertise on Spanish radio regardless of ratings. I noticed in the Press Release they mentioned specific advertisers for Rumba 106.1. This reminds me of BIN, which has dedicated advertisers. None of those signals get much of any ratings. The programming is decent, but I don't believe the audience they are trying to target really asked for an All News format, thus the low ratings. The low ratings however do not effect the overall operation. There are some things (Sports for example) that can bill well without high ratings.
