Keith Kennedy to WMJI mornings

Interesting. I can't remember when I heard someone was leaving his morning show and saying on the air he's going to another morning show on a competitor. I know it's another iHR station and in Cleveland but that could take a number of listeners from 98.1. Am I missing something?

Barrett Media sees this as a positive:

If you're the talent, you want to retain your audience. I think he's smart to do it.

This makes Keith on WGAR middays, WMJI mornings (perhaps still voicetracking overnights also), and WKDD afternoon drive. Didn't he at one point also do a shift on Mix 98.9 in Youngstown? Or am I just dreaming.

The changes also bring a new chapter for Mark Nolan, who has anchored mornings at WMJI for more than a decade. Rather than leaving the station, Nolan will transition into afternoon drive, keeping one of the market’s best-known personalities on the air while opening the door for a refreshed morning lineup.

Jen Picciano will stay on mornings and co-host with Keith. Mark goes to afternoons, presumably a daypart he'll be able to do from home and/or track. There may be times where he is live, but if you think he's going to head into Oak Tree...err..668 Euclid five days a week to do a live show every afternoon, I have a bridge to sell you. I'm not sure if this is Mark's choice as a sort of dipping his toes into an eventual retirement or if this is one of the puzzle pieces in the aftermath of the RIF.

Yeah, he tracked middays on Mix 989 in Youngstown until it started taking one of the national AC options.

Even though you can't hear him in the Mahoning Valley anymore, those of us in the 216 and 330 will be able to get 13 hours of Keith every weekday starting Monday. Cleveland doesn't know how lucky it is.
