Keith Larson leaving WBT

A sad, sad day. From day 1, he was a must listen for me. He kept it local, fun, informative, off-beat and most importantly, honest. I wish I was still in Charlotte to have heard this mornings broadcast. A class guy who did great things for the community. My guess is it was the curse of "The Shanty Song"...
Best of luck to you Keith! Lama!

Mr.Bill

This is my THEORY:

They want Jason Lewis live, so they will put him in the 6-9PM slot.

Hancock will move back to the 9AM-Noon slot.

Boortz goes an at 9:00 PM.

At first I thought they would just replace Larson with Boortz, but the above scenario makes more sense.

So Larson stays according to an article in the Observer. Now, let's see what changes take place with his show. I've got to believe that management has a few things that they'd like to see Mr. Larson do differently.

My guess - less reliance on his favorite types of music used as bumpers, less of Sharon Thorsland and Molly Grantham, less chat with his producer (off mic) on the air and a better job of show prep.

Also, he's moving ahead with his plan to operate his own ad agency (LAMA) with management's blessing, which leads me to believe that his compensation arrangement is not what it once was. Could he now be a part-time or hourly employee?

I personally like his show just the way it is,. It is something different on the radio.

Here is another post that I agree with 100%. I wouldn't change a thing he does, even when I disagree with his take on a subject. As Larson himself says "Agreement is not required".

I hope that Rick Feinblatt and those who pull his stirngs listened to the first half hour of Larsons show on 4/25, that they take a lot of what he said to heart, put it to use, and even keep a copy of the podcast from that day on thier iPhones and computers to listen to periodically to remind them of their mission.

The most telling thing that Larson said in his "rant" (if you want to call it that as the perverter did) is that Greater media paid a reported $100 milllion for WBT, and since the purchase has proceeded to dismantle the structure that made it into a station they thought was worth that price. Why pay that much for something and then tear it down from what made it into a property you were willing to pay that much for. The only reason I could see to do that would be if you owned another competing station in the same market and you wanted to build that station while removing its competition.

Just my $0.02 worth adjusted for inflation!

Yes it does, usually if the contract is not being renewed it is not renewed.
and the announcement is made after the host has been removed.

In general I agree with this but....
If this was a stunt, then Larson has missed his calling, and he should consider moving to Hollywood. Listen to the poscast of the show and tell me if you think he was acting, after you hear his emotions throughout the whole 3 hours. If that was acting, then he truly belongs in Hollywood!

Just my $0.02 worth, adjusted for inflation! YMMV
