I guess most people posting here don't care and Current TV is small potatoes, but anybody know if he is ever coming back?

His doctors have given him the "all clear" to return to the air tomorrow, according to his Twitter feed.

I went to the trouble of adding Current TV to my lineup specifically top watch Keith, so I care. Jeez, he owes us a two, or three-hour "Countdown" to catch up! But of course they have a new show in the 9:00 pm hour. I must watch it the next time Rachel isn't on (but Chris Hayes is great too).

by "Doctors" i guess you're meaning his SHRINK. if you look up "Snoddy Self absorbed little Prick" in the Dictionary, you see a picture of keith olbermann.

Current needs HD. They should put Bill Press at 6PM or 10PM presuming Keith returns. Then add Thom Hartman and Jeannine Garafolo. Put Zack Galifanakis on at 11PM and Jesse Ventura from 12-3AM

HD for a talking head seems like a big waste of bandwidth (unless you are critiquing the work of the make-up artist).

Put another way, many local newscasts have larger audiences than he does on Current.

Likewise, many local newscasts have larger audiences than Bill O'Reilly. And all of the network news programs have larger numbers than all of the cable news networks have at their best.

I seriously doubt that there is one single local newscast, even in NYC, that has higher viewership than O'Reilly. Maybe if you aggregate some or all of the local newscasts in a particular market such as NYC or some of the other Top 5 or Top 10 markets...

You are correct that any one of the three network nightly newscasts easily outdraw any show on cable.

Nevertheless, Current has a miniscule audience and Olberman is gradually working his way out of the biz.

What's the scoop for those of use without cable? Where did he go? I am lost :)

Yet another good reason to not have cable. ;D

KO used to host 'Countdown' on MSNBC. He got into some sort of spat with management and left to go to Current (another cable service) and start his own show. Then he had some sort of medical issue and has been off the air for awhile.

FOX NEWS (possibly once on O'Reilly's show) has aired video clips of K.O sticking his foot in his mouth. Interesting how these cameos on FOX might have given K.O. greater viewership than he garnered on the origional MSNBC or CURRENT TV broadcasts.

Obviously retaliation for KO's "Worst Person in the World" segment where Billo was a frequent winner.

Maybe, although such retaliation by FOX would be foolish; with MSNBC's scant viewership, most TV viewers wouldn't even be aware of the "Worst Person in the World" jest unless they heard FOX's response. Why fire back against a shot few people even heard?

I can't answer your statement concerning Fox but back in 2008, when the presidential campaign was in full song, there was a huge amount of animosity between KO and Billo. Back then Billo had viewers and so did KO.

That was interesting, shooting in the barn between the left wing liberal and the not-so-left wing liberal. Similar drama has unfolded between Newt Gingrich and the mainstream media. Newt turned combative even against his presumed comfort zone on FOX NEW's 1st Republican debate, when panelist Chris Wallace held his feet to the fire over an awkward topical issue.

KO's legacy is different; his own perpetual anger darkens the screen. His occassional on-screen confrontations leave him, the so-called journalist, the one who's foaming at the mouth, while his interview subjects often appear as marveling at his temper tantrums, but otherwise taking the high road. His ratings are perennially low thanks to his objectivity-starved approach to journalism. Even the poster-child for my-way-or-the-highway politics, the always hostile Howard Dean, must bristle at KO's antics. How did KO get that job anyway?
