Kelly & Alpha

I will personally miss K&A. They are solid professional broadcasters. Which i suspect they will prove by doing solid and professional shows for the next 5 months.

Nobody is better at doing a morning show within the confines of B98.5's current music-intensive format than Kelly & Alpha. And over 9 years is not a bad run.

Don't they current voice track another shift on B98.5? Could they be retained for that effort even though they may work in another market? Or will B98.5 now get a live person for that other shift?

They VT Saturday and Sunday mornings 8-Noon.

Kelly and Alpha were a pretty good duo. They didn't subscribe to a lot of the crap other morning shows do. No shock talk or outragious stunts. They kept their shows clean. That is why they had a low profile.

Since they are staying on the air for now at B98.5, I am wondering if they will be moving over to sister station 97.1 the River for AM Drive. Since the Regular Guys returned with the launch of Rock 100.5, the River may need someone like Kelly and Alpha to help keep listeners from defecting.

I'm not so sure that anyone who might defect from River for TRG would be pulled back by B98's old morning show. That's probably two different crowds

I 'd bet money that is what Cox wants to do. Sounds like K&A are "exploring their options" before committing to it, though. It's pretty common for Cox to launch a music-intensive station without a morning show, then add that element to the mix once it's established an identity. Classic Randy Kabrich programming.

I don't think Cox has been using Randy Kabrich for quite some time now.

If that's true I'd be shocked. But even so, he and Bob Neil think exactly alike. Even if he's not still on the payroll, his way of programming is still exactly how Cox stations are run.

Knowing the Coxification process, I have to say Kelly and Alpha are the quintessential morning guys. With free reign, they are funny as $&!%, and they can work a crowd like crazy. Healthy egos...nice...fun.
I will miss you guys!

A couple of years ago, Dan Kearny told me Kabrich was no longer consulting the Cox AC's. So unless he's returned since then, he's not involved with Cox.

I'll say it again.. the K&A boys are pros. IF they get picked up by another station with an even slightly different demo they will shine. This COULD be the best thing that happened to them in that they might be able to reinvent with their edgier side. They both have one--especially Mr. Trivette.
