9:45 am Wednesday: Kelly & Alpha promo airs previewing their morning show tomorrow and saying Jordan Graye is next!

Steve & Vicky are out after TWO DAYS at B98.5!!!!!!

Must have been an old voicetrack that was not deleted. Kelly McCoy is on vacation, and Jordan Graye is VTing her regular shift while doing Kelly's live.

Meanwhile...Kate McCarthy is on vacation this week at the River.

In other developments...

Someone apparently started an online group to get Kelly and Alpha back at B98.5. Apparently, there is a lot more loyalty to Kelly and Alpha then anyone thought.

I wonder if bringing them back to afternoons on B98.5 might be a feasible option. They would have to give up a lot of music in the afternoons (which could swing the door wide open for a new AC...thus why B98.5 snapped up Steve and Vikki) and would have to give them parity (in terms of talk time) with Steve and Vikki in order to keep them.

I heard in the halls of Cox that Kate McCarthy was nudged into vacation this week because they feared having her and Jordan Graye doing shifts at the same time. As we all know they do not get along well and they did not want any confrontations this week with them working the same shifts down the hall from each other.

I heard that when Jordan goes on vacation, Kate will be going with her.

And I also heard they're looking for a vacation spot that's open to that sort of thing, if you know what I mean.

I hear the Oregon State Hospital in Salem, Oregon is in to that sort of thing. ;D

You guys are breaking new journalistic ground...pretty good reading, tonight. I've turned of B-98.5 for the first time since
I heard S &V were going over... :p

The irony is that the NEW 97.1 The River is playing OLD music.

K&A are a morning team and will find their next gig doing so not afternoons and not at Cox. The site is great if it make the listeners feel better BUT a little late now that they're gone. Not that it would've had any affect on the company's decision if created earlier. It's a numbers game and S&V will bring in more of everything.

This is one of the worst. Why do they continue with this? Waste of a great signal.
Found your answer on why they are still NEW, the "official" answer http://971theriver.com/inside/faqs.html
Don't get your hopes up though, pretty lame.

Very interesting information. 52 minute of music every hour. How precise. Sounds like the 50 minute music hours on B98.5. About getting a song request, I don't think you can call in a song request on B98.5 either. Might be a pattern for all Cox radio stations in Atlanta.

I don't keep up with The River but from the little bit I've read it's obviously the same formula Cox has on 106.9 The Eagle in Birmingham. They bill that station as having "at least 52 minutes of music every hour" and have been calling it "the NEW 106-9 The Eagle" for years now. Must be a gimmick they got from a consultant or something. Funny, though...on the Atlanta board I only read stuff about River being a wasted signal, over here in Alabama the Eagle is huge

A few months ago, the River beat B98.5 in the ratings. The River was an overnight success story when it launched in 2006, because there was no oldies station in Atlanta proper at the time. Now that True Oldies has come to town, the ratings will not be what they were months ago. The only reason The River did so well is that it was the only source for pre-1970's music for a little over two years. I don't think Birmingham has an oldies station, why the Eagle is doing well (the only source for pre-1970's music). The River has a while to go before it goes away.
