Kelly G Out At 92.5 WBKR????

See that Steve Horn has taken over middays and Kelly G isn't anywhere listed on the website.

Couldn't they have found someone else other than Steve Horn that sounds so monotone and the same crap everytime he talks on their air to do middays?

Any info?

Kelly left WBKR two months ago. She and her husband purchased their hometown general store and doing very well. Steve Horn is actually doing two jobs. His primary duty is copy/production and secondary duty is Voicetracking middays. He is doing the best job possible considering the copy job keeps him busy.

WBKR is the one of top billing station in the area. If they were privately owned the revenue could pay for a full operating staff and there would be lots of money left over. However, the WBKR cash drawer is cleared every night by its idiot corporate owner who uses the money to keep the two-bit empire afloat and the bill collectors happy.

I had popped on their site a couple of weeks ago and noticed her absence. Glad she's doing well. A great talent, great voice, and a delightful woman.

Her and Dave Spencer are the only ones left that is worth even having on the air.

Their imaging is absolutely horrible now and sounds completely stupid from what it use to be when Brill Media owned the station before they went out of business.

I didn't know Clear Channel owned any stations in Owensboro! ;D

No, but it is a company that used to be located in the same Covington building.

Speaking of Clear Channel, several years ago they tried to buy Brill Media. However, CC ran away when they realized the Brill Media empire was one giant lease.

Do they have a website about their general store? My grandparents had a general store and I've wondered how well one would do these days. I guess it would have to be more of a tourist draw than an actual functioning store selling work clothes and sandwiches for lunch.

The bulk of her business are for those 500 residents who would rather drive a few blocks instead of driving 30 minutes to Jasper. As far as a tourist draw, it does sell Birdseye apparel. Maybe one day I'll help her build a website so Birdseye could be the next Rooster Run. I tried to talk her into starting a Part 15 station, Birdseye Radio, but she's too busy running the store.

Looks like she may get some competition from the Eckerty Y. I might have to stop by there next time I'm in the area. I have kin due north of her at Patoka Lake.

I was so amazed she lasted so long at WIKY with all the stuck ups. She was a treat.

Glad to hear she is doing well. She always seemed so grounded. And everyone who knew her knew where she was from because it was a part of her. I hope her store does well!
