I guess now we know where he's been. He's battling some sort of addition and should be back in a couple of weeks.

An "addition"? What? Did he have a kid? Add a garage onto his house? Seriously, that's kind of heavy just to lay out there nonchalantly, bro.

I'm just repeating what Alpha said on the radio "he's getting clean and sober". BTW, I'm a Sis, not a Bro. ;D

Still kind of heavy, um, sis.(correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think your screen name is gender specific, so I went with the odds that someone with "Sack" in their screen name was a guy. My apologies. ;) )

This may bring a bit of clarity to why Cox was so quick to jump on Steve and Vicki when they already had a morning show in place on B985. Someone may have felt the ship was going to sink.

If the boundaries of my creative license were talking about "fifty minute music hours" and "... it's 98 minutes of the best variety of soft-rock to start your workday" over and over and over I might drink too.

Word on the street is if B98.5's Jordan Graye was ever sidelined, her co-worker Kate McCarthy at 97.1 The River is so supportive that Kate would take leave too.

Wow...Kelly Stevens became an alcoholic. It sounded like it became a huge problem, although he did a good job of hiding it because he sounded fine and sober on-air. I am glad to see that he is getting help.

Which is funny, because, rumor has it that they're so at odds, professionaly, they refuse to work together to the point that they won't even be seen together in the same meeting room. I hear Kate and Jordan have spotters around the building to let each other know when the other's around the corner.

He's probably "rehabbing" on a beach somewhere, drawing a check and using up all the remaining vacation time Cox has allotted him.

I could have sworn a couple of weeks ago Jordan Graye was out and they had Kate McCarthy filling in for her. It might have been VT though. She kind of took a shot at Jordan when I was listening that I thought was uncaled for. Something to the effect that Kate was the Queen of Cox Atlanta? I thought unnecessary when working someone else's shift.

I think this joke has run its course. It goes into the Radio-Info annals along with:

How does this affect Q100?
B98.5 voted #1 for the most music while you work.

Oh, come on, Roddy! This can't run its course yet, it's only six months old. ;D "How does this effect Q100?" has a few years shelf life on it, and "....voted #1..." well, I think you can trace that back to the real reason why Sherman burned Atlanta because he heard that on the telegraph lines. :p

Not at all true. S&V were out at Star and Cox courted them heavily and scooped them up, nothing to do with K&A performance. It's business, no ship was sinking.

Nothing personal against K&A but Cox picked up S&V for two obvious reasons: 1) they felt S&V had more upside than K&A for ratings and revenue and 2) Cox didn't want anybody else to hire S&V and convert to a soft rock station, thus directly competing against B98.5. So it was at the same time an offensive and a defensive move.

Sad Sack had it right. Rodney's Peach Buzz confirmed Kelly is in rehab.

He tried to tell you Kelly's in rehab, but y'all said no, no, no... :D

I can only imagine the off air fights about Kelly's drinking. Kelly coming in still drunk from the night before. Alpha complaining he has to do all the prep... I wish someone had tapes of that... now THAT would be good radio.

I never was a big fan of Kelly & Alpha, but it's a tough situation they are in right now, being lame ducks. I don't know how bad Kelly's problem was, but the whole Steve and Vicki thing had to push him over the edge. It's just very sad, and I wish Kelly all the best in his road to recovery. I hope theu both land on their feet somewhere very soon.
