Kelly on the loose

News of former valley broadcaster Bruce Kelly released a few weeks ago from his VP/Programming position in North Dakota. If anyone can lend him a hand getting off the beach and has an open door I'm certain the favor would be returned generously. Another trade has an article and contact info.

Apparently the place he was last employed was too far gone for his magic. Although he did put a bottom feeding classic rocker in the top 5 in a single book.

HE'll be on 90.7fm in the East Valley, "the Goldmine"- from 6 to 8am with me. Feel free to call us at 480-655-0907 and say Hi! stream us at 907goldmine.com, theres a tunein radio app, search KVIT, and a droid app search "goldmine radio" on the Droid Market.

I'm just throwing this out there cause it just happened a few months ago in L.A., so I believe the reason for Bruce Kelly stopping by in the vally is to reclaim his place in valley radio! Rick Dees came back to L.A. radio on Hot 923 as the morning guy because L.A. grew up listening to him and the music that Hot 923 plays. Ironic that KYOT changes format to simulate sister station Hot 923, brings in a voice from the Bay Area to fill in mornings. I love Chino, he's my boy and a familiar voice on valley radio, but when you think of the music Eva 955 plays, it only brings back Bruce Kelly into your head! The king of "Flashback Fridays!" The Phoenix market should have live, local dj's, not voice tracked shows. Bruce not only would bring back the good old days, but flashback fridays, 5 days a week, and the numbers that CC has long been waiting for on that dial! Bruce, I know I'm speaking out of my a$!, but welcome home, we missed you!

Congrats, Bruce!

Best wishes and good luck to you as you corrupt those young, fertile minds, giving them false hopes of a meaningful career in a dying industry. ;D

Now where did I leave my iPod.... ;)

KOHS, this program is about so much more than training kids for a career on radio, When these students walk into this door, from day one, they and their parents are informed that less than 5% of them may actually work on air, and maybe 10 at a station at all, that's why the two year program is diverse with marketing, advertising, Pro Tools studio production, The Music Business, AV/Sound and more.

Bruce has been my friend and mentor for 25 years, I am happy to bring him aboard. He is not a teacher here, but the Operations Manager, using his Extensive marketing and Industry Knowledge to help make a High Schoo Radio Station Sound like it's Not a High School radio Station, even though it's largely staffed by Teens.

His Priorities are:
Increase awareness and funding in the business community for the program, marketing, keep us on track with FCC obligations, and to help image the station.

He can have a great time here everyday, without the stress of coprorate radio, Hav eyou heard about Clear Channel Lately?

Corporate radio, stress, Cheap Channel??!?!?!?! You mean...it's not glamorous???

Time for you to surrender your leisure suit and cool-radio DJ card, Steve!! You need to drink some kool-aid!! ;D

DJ Perry:

Obviously sarcasm does not translate well on boards like these. I happen to like Bruce and Steve and am merlely being sarcastic, the prominent flavor of this board.

My apologies to anyone who took my posts as jabs or rude. No rudeness intended.

I was hoping so, yet it seemed Mr. Grosz was not playing along with a sarcastic response, so perhaps I jumped to conclusions. Also, let me clarify, that KVIT is not a LPFM, but a Class C station, offering 2000 watts. Stay Tuned.

Class C is 100kw. At 2kw, KVIT is a class A. Still, not a LPFM.

...also, if you want to get a glimpse into some of the fustercluck that is winning the license of a new NCE station, just read the documentation that went along with EVIT's application. Steve, you deserve every bit of praise for getting that station on the air, because it could not have been easy. If you come to the next NAB, the first beverage is on me.
