Kelly's back...

She is back on Pugs and Company from Corpus Christi as a regular. I believe it is called Pugs and Company featuring Kelly.

Good for her! guess they made up and all is good now...

Do you know if she's coming in through ISDN or calling in via the hotline and doing it over the phone?

I've worked with hosts in the past who have done their entire show from the hotline! Sigh...

She couldn't get a gig in Corpus?? I'm not taking a shot, just asking.

On what station might an inquiring mind find this radio show?

I think it's great news. That show desperately needed a female presence, and Kelly is great. Very funny and not nearly as stupid as most "morning zoo" type women.

Now they suck long distance..

CC messed this station up a couple years ago when they assumed control after the loan out. Flipping to a stream of CNN Headline News was a mistake. It wasnt a ratings or money monster, never will be. But it had respectable numbers as a classic country station. Now this. I wish someone at CC would see what they have there. a 50,000 watt am station that could be put to better use. But there aren't any AM people in that building who see the true potential..

Be that as it may, CC is still making plenty of money selling the air time in block format on 1190. They are not worried about ratings. Is it BIG bux? No. But you will still have to give them 10MM for it if you want to show us how it could be put to better use.

Plenty of money? Doubt it. I worked there when it flipped. A dollar a spot and block programming for for under $300 an hour. Plus, I mentioned it wasnt a money maker anyway before the flip. It's just the nature of how the station has been treated. Even now its a red headed stepchild. I wouldnt have to buy the station to show how it can make $$. No one would. It just needs a pd and the backing of CC to make it happen with a great product that sales can make a winner. Which will not happen anytime soon. I'm not knocking CC. They have great big stick AM stations in lots of markets. I've worked for CC in another market where two huge 50,000 watt AM sticks were great money makers. D/FW just isnt into AM.

By the way. The weekly cume at 1190 in the book before it flipped. 60,000. Last time I was privy to a book in Dallas after the flip to news. 12,000.

This show was on top of the world at LIVE. They had GREAT ratings because they had Howard as a lead in and they had a solid lead out with he who shall not be named. The show was never very good because they never REALLY had anything to say; Dodge Ball, Nip Tuck, Syb, Eric, some porn shop store owner and a few other hangers-on. Great example of a show that did nothing with a great opportunity. Her voice sounds like she gargles with gravel and he sounds like High Pitch Eric.

The numbers say nobody is listening, the show is paid programming. What, exactly, is the relevance of Kelly's return? What am I missing?

that's even better than my DUI example. I feel confident there are other non commercial stations that have a higher listening body than 1190. A list of people that have more listeners than Pugs and Kelly on 1190 if you will (feel free to join)

1. Fort Worth Approach Control (and it's sister station FTW departure control) One of the busiest airspaces in US. I bet they could get $5 for a 30 if they'd break format
2. Dallas Police dispatch (you know there are still over 500 seniors out there listening to their 80's Realistic scanners. They could run P & K on tape delay to entertain the officers during dead air. Get some words in from 'Uncle Bob'
3. DFW airport security 2 Way channel.
4. Bass police (ftw)
5. cell phone debuggers
6. Overseas short wave operators, searching for WBAP air checks
7. Big Tex
8. The Parks Mall public address system
9. Mesquite Schools radio
10. Announcer at Windy Ryon memorial calf roping (what is that you ask....exactly my point)
