KEMR - Moriarty

Checking to see how the KKOB signal is here. I wouldn't want to listen to it here for any length of time. But I also scanned the AM band and found that KEMR - Moriarty is not on as of 12:32 pm. Been off for at least half an hour that I can tell (so not a glitch).
 
I suggest you call Radio New Mexico's office in Albuquerque (505.899.5029) as KEMR's operation is based there.
 
Called. As usual in this modern day and age. No asnswer. Not even an answering machine. Hopefully out of the office headed for Moriarty.
 
That's weird. That number rings at the reception desk at the offices on San Pedro.

just because its not on doesnt mean much.. youre assuming they didnt know or werent working on something. ive had some of my signals off for days... once was off for 3 months because i had no way to deliver audio to the transmitter and it took that long to resolve it. i wasnt idly sitting twiddling my thumbs.. i was doing what i could to fix it
 
Thirty miles away from Abq, so a rim-shot signal into ~600,000.

How many other forum users actually listen to that station in a town that serves ~2000 people?
 
Why do they call it East Mountain Radio, if it's a translator that covers Albuquerque? If it was a standalone AM, then yes, the branding would make sense.

As an Extra class amateur radio operator, sure seems like he'd have some skills to pitch in, if it came right down to it. 🤷‍♂️

Forgive me, Paul, but I prefer the more accurate mapping at @Michi's site (fccdata.org) ...

The blue contour line is the existing facility. The red contour is a facilities change CP that was issued on Thursday. Looks like the intent is to aim the signal more toward the AM's COL.

Well, the call letters KEMR are for the AM, not the translator (which is K271DC).
 
What is kind of interesting about the CP application is that the 60 dB contour does not cover either downtown Edgewood or downtown Moriarty, the two biggest population centers of the East Mountains. I make the assumption that this is a temporary site to keep things running until a better East Mountain site is found.
