KEMR

Can somebody on the board tell me what has happened to KEMR. Filed to move from Milan on 1090 to Moriarty on 1080. Made several changes to the CP. Now they have completely disappeared from the FCC database. No STA, no nothing that I can find. But curiuosly, their application for a translator on 102.1 is still in the FCC database. Any idea what gives?

Check the fccdata.org website. They have a License to Cover application granted on 6/15/21 for 1080, Moriarty, daytime. A translator signal would most likely be in tow to allow nighttime broadcasting.

Weird. fccdata.org has info. But fcc.gov 'AM Query' shows no records for KEMR. Likewise an AM query search for all NM AM shows nothing on either 1080 or 1090. Weird. When I go out later I may just have to do an AM scan.

KEMR is there because I heard them testing. 'AM Query' still has no inkling they exist. FCC must be slow updating the database.

Also translator K271DC 102.1 has applied for a new CP to broadcast at 99 watts from Sandia Crest with a directional signal pointed east which would cover Edgewood but Moriarty appears to be a bit outside the main contour but would likely still be able to be heard there. The question is would a signal at 102.1 on the crest be able to prevent any interference to the KNMM translator or KQUQ-LP?

There's no city of license coverage requirements for a translator. So unlike a full power FM, a translator doesnt have to provide 100 percent, 80 percent.. or any coverage to its COL

I believe they are not going to start full time on the AM until September. Only way they could not interfere with the 102.1 in ABQ is to be down on the east side of the crest so the mountain is blocking. Otherwise, in a translator/LPFM duel, who legally has the upper hand?

Now it gets more confusing, the CP was granted last week and radio locator is showing a non-directional pattern: K271DC-FM Radio Station Coverage Map ...which would totally cover Albuquerque!?! It could be a mistake but even pointed eastward it could still cause problems from that height just by observing how the westward directional signals can still be heard east of the Sandias. So who indeed legally has the upper hand? The recent modification for K271CP (KNMM) overlaps with KQUQ just west of the Rio Grande but the FCC doesn't seem to care. 102.1 is the last available space on the commercial FM band in ABQ and now everyone is fighting for it!

The new pattern, on Sandia, probably covers about 10k people in the East Mountains. Better than the original 102.1 which didn't even cover the COL.

translators dont have a legal requirement to cover their COL

But the number of people between the original translator location and the COL (or in any direction) can probably be counted on both hands.

KEMR (Moriarty) has filed an application for silent STA in order to move their 102.1 translator form the tower in Moriarty to Sandia Crest. Interesting because as near as I can tell they have never been on. Interesting as well because they are an AM station asking to be silent until they get their FM translator up and running. Such is the sate of AM nowadays.

The good news is that I believe KEMR is on the air. There is a local at 1080. The bad news us that it appears to be simulcasting KDLW and KVVD. Have not checked the 102.1 translator.

Try the new Licensing and Management System (LMS) as the CDBS is going away.Filings are getting lost on the transition.
