Ken Berry of F Troop and Mama's Family fame, dead at 85

I only remember him playing a vaudeville actor named Buddy O’Connor, who thinks Vicki is his long-lost daughter, in the Small Wonder episode “Vaudeville Vicki,” the 22nd episode of the first season. None of the news articles I found listed that role.

Wonder how many of the "F Troop" crew are still around.....Forrest Tucker, Larry Storch, Melodie Patterson...???
Maybe Dobbs has learned to render a respectable version of "Taps"....??!
 
His best ratings were his starring role on "Mayberry RFD", (CBS-1968-71) as Sam Jones. Top 5 the first two seasons, only to get cancelled when CBS decided to get rid of the rural comedies.

Larry Storch is 95 and James Hampton is 82. Melodie Patterson died three years ago from multiple organ failure at the age of 66.

I know him best for "Mama's Family" but I also saw him in this show. Andy Griffith left "The Andy Griffith Show" and the finale was the pilot for this series.

"Mama" is actually quite young. She's playing a 65-year-old character in "The Cool Kids".

I must have watched "F Troop" but don't remember much about it.

Maybe because Small Wonder is one of the most forgettable shows in the history of television.

Larry Storch is still with us at age 95.
James Hampton (Dobbs) is also still alive.
Melody Patterson died a couple of years ago.

She had lied about her age to get the part and was only 15 when shooting on F Troop began! Ken Berry was reportedly pretty freaked-out over unknowingly participating in romantic scenes with a fifteen-year old.
