I have a question to any insider at GRR that is in the loop there. Why is the sports director at Channel 5 doing a weekend gig? Certainly the money he's being paid isn't signficant enough to justify occupying his weekend time with all of his duties in sports. I can't recall the last time Denny Janson or John Popovich or Brad Johannson(sp)or Dan Hoard pulled a weekend jock gig. And then I saw where 5 was having open auditions for a new traffic person. What the heck is going on?

He has been doing weekends for about two months now, I thought it was some sort of cross-promotion trade-off, since Channel 5 provides weather service to GRR, and he does plug Channel 5 when he gets the chance

The guy absolutely loves oldies! He's having a blast and sounds very good on the air. Being a well-known T.V. personality gives him a level of credibility that few radio-only people can bring to the table. By the way, I understand that he expressed an interest in doing the shift, so they gave him a shot. So far so good!

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical when I heard he was showing up on 'GRR weekends. But he sounds very good. His shows are tight and I love his dry sense of humor and one liners. And he has more enthusiasm than any of the other part-timers. He had to have done this at some point before now.

Whoever came up with the idea of putting him on...good call.

> Remember, Ken's first broadcast position in Cincinnati was at WSAI around 1975, doing sports reports on the Jim Scott show. He was not here very long, so he does have history of working in radio, and may have been a DJ at some point early in his career

I was unaware of his prior experience in Cincinnati radio. A former colleague of mine just told me he worked with Broo at a PA radio station years ago. Apparently he did sports and mid days there and was about to take a radio gig in NYC but opted for TV instead.
