I heard that Ken Grant passed-away yesterday. Does anyone have any additional information on this former KNUZ "Good Guy?"

Wow. Another radio legend fades into the sunset. We listened to him when I was just a kid. I think he may have been the PD for KNUZ, at one point. I wonder if Paul Berlin has heard about it?

I am sure Paul knows by now. The KNUZ-KQUE alumni are a close knit group. The word spreads fast. Ken was program director for several years. He was good natured guy. A lot of us used to impersonate Ken in the way he said, "Golly!" In the time I knew him, I never heard him utter anything unkind. He loved his wife very much.

Doris and Ken moved to North Carolina just before the last KNUZ/KQUE reunion to be closer to family. Ken was put in hospice a few days ago and passed away I believe on Saturday. His family is returning to Houston for the funeral, I believe it will be Monday. That's all I know at this point. I'm glad Mike Marshall and I went over for a visit before they left for North Carolina.

There was a lot of joking by all of us smart asses behind Ken's back, but truth be told, he was unfailingly kind, and softened the thunder rolling down the stairs from the upstairs office on Caroline Street. A genuinely nice man who to the best of my memory, never really lost his temper. Or else, when he did, it was just too hard to tell. First Marty and now Ken. I am feeling old.

First Marty and now Ken. I am feeling old.

One by one, they're all passing away. I'm talking about the generation of radio people who made commercial radio the greatest way on Earth to make a living. And that's not the worst part.

What's worse is watching them go, knowing they're not being replaced because they invented their jobs and nobody can do the job as well as they.
